Korn, System of a Down, Deftones, Disturbed, and Slipknot are the only nu-metal bands I can see getting nominated. Just my opinion, but I’d say SOAD and the Deftones totally earn it on their quality. Korn, Linkin Park, and Disturbed MIGHT get it based on record sales. Can pretty much ignore every other Nu-metal band ETA: And Slipknot should be first ballot. Enormously successful in their own right and the biggest group as far as introducing extreme sounds to a worldwide audience since Slayer. No metalcore or deathcore, at least not on the same level, without these guys. I know this board leans heavily towards metal in terms of music taste, but there's not a chance in hell any of these bands ends up in that thing. Right now there are two pure metal acts (Metallica and Black Sabbath) that have been inducted and a handful of hard rock acts. The people running it are clearly not invested in the genre whatsoever. This isn't to take anything away from these bands if you like them and I'm not saying "Yeah right, they suck." But scroll through who's been inducted and then think "Oh yeah, Slipknot's a lock" when the only metal inductees are the band that more or less codified the genre and the most successful of the "Big Four".

So why have a fan vote if you're going to just ignore it?
F*** off, Rock Hall.

So why have a fan vote if you're going to just ignore it? F*** off, Rock Hall. Because Dave Matthews Band is one of the most bland and mediocre bands. Tho this years inductees sucks too. Is it like a rule they can only put 1 female in? Pat Bentar should've went in. (I'm fine with Whitney going in, her voice did transcend any genre) NIN and Depeche Mode are the only 2 I like. I would've put in Motorhead and Soundgarden in. Lets get Stone Temple Pilots nominated next year, tears for fears too.

Like the WWE Hall of Fame, I don't know why I get mad over this year after year.
Judas Priest absolute should've gone in. Motorhead should be in. Iron Maiden should be in. These are bands that have influenced a ton of bands that are ALREADY in. Soundgarden should've went in. I could go on and on about who should be in but aren't.
I love Nine Inch Nails and am apathetic to Notorious BIG, but there's so many that should've gone in before those two.

So Nirvana and Pearl Jam are immediate inductions, first year on the ballot the first time they were eligible, but Soundgarden isn't? They came first!

Never forget that Whitney Houston, The Doobie Brothers, and The Notorious BIG got into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame before Judas Priest, Motorhead, Thin Lizzy, Pat Benatar, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, the list goes on and on...
I can appreciate and acknowledge the contributions those three acts brought to music as a whole, but unless they want to rename themselves to a more appropriate broadscale name, it's really hard to take these inductions seriously.
EDIT: Stole this from Reddit, but here's a shortlist of Rock bands that aren't in yet:
Motörhead (eligible since 2004) Judas Priest (eligible since 1999) Iron Maiden (eligible since 2005) Slayer (eligible since 2008) Black Flag (eligible since 2006) Hawkwind (eligible since 1995) Boston (eligible since 2001) Peter Frampton (eligible since 1997) Megadeth (eligible since 2010) Misfits (eligible since 2007) Styx (eligible since 1997) The Cramps (eligible since 2005) Ministry (eligible since 2008) Devo (eligible since 2003) Kansas (eligible since 1999) Venom (eligible since 2006) Anthrax (eligible since 2009) Death (eligible since 2012) Joy Division (eligible since 2004) Thin Lizzy (eligible since 1996) Primus (eligible since 2015) Alice in Chains (eligible since 2015) Siouxsie and the Banshees (eligible since 2003) The Smashing Pumpkins (eligible since 2016) GWAR (eligible since 2013)

I actually think this year's list is solid and I'm really happy the Dave Matthews Band didn't get in because they were by far the worst choice amongst this year's nominees

I'm glad Nine Inch Nails got in, but the lack of Soundgarden has me more than a little disappointed.

How is Motorhead not in??? I don't follow this that closely, so maybe I'm missing something.

So why have a fan vote if you're going to just ignore it? F*** off, Rock Hall. Seriously. I'm sure DMB will get in eventually and rightfully so but of the top 5 vote getters, only the Doobie Brothers got in. So the fan vote is basically pointless.

I hope Vince Clarke is included in the Depeche Mode induction, he and Fletch were the co-founders after all.

I hope Vince Clarke is included in the Depeche Mode induction, he and Fletch were the co-founders after all. If so, hopefully Alan Wilder qualifies too. Although Vince was a founding member, I always associate Alan with them more than I do Vince. What the hell - induct ‘em both!

Kind of an unexciting list but nice to see Depeche Mode and NIN get the nod.

Although Vince was a founding member, I always associate Alan with them more than I do Vince. What the hell - induct ‘em both! I always thought Wilder never quite seemed to fit in with the rest of the band and as his departure seemingly wasn’t that amicable, it just reinforced that opinion. But he did perform with them again a few years ago and the bridges seemed to have been repaired. He’s a bit under appreciated really and I might argue that Violator was such a success because of him putting the work in. Then again, there was some bad blood with Clarke too. Although if he hadn’t have left he wouldn’t have gone on to form Erasure (who are one of my favourite acts ever) and Martin Gore wouldn’t have been immediately promoted to the “primary creator” role and brought in the more “indie” sound of 83-87 and the more “rock” sound that followed. One of those cases where the apparent “talent” of the band leaving not only gave us another great band and improved the band he left behind. But yeah, as you said, put them all in. It’s only five people.
