Not gonna lie, Into The Spider-Verse left me cold when I got around to seeing it, so I wasn't intensely hyped for this movie. Got around to seeing Across today, and it instantly catapulted into my top four favorite comic movies, behind Captain America 2, Black Panther, and Spider-Man 2. Really great movie.

So I just got back from seeing the film and loved it. I went because my kiddo wanted to go out with a friend and see it because so many were talking about it. I wasn't expecting anything and honestly thought I'd fall asleep but the opening caught me off guard. The art style was amazing and kept me hooked long enough to become engrossed in the story. I'm not a comics guy so all this was new and a "surprise" to me. I did start wondering toward the end what was going to happen because not much was wrapped up and it seemed to have been a while, so the cliffhanger was both a surprise and non-surprise. Kiddo and her friend were "mad" about that but loved it.
Great film and I can't wait for the sequel.

Just saw this with my brother. Overall, didn't really care for it. One thing I hated was {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} how Miles and Gwen kept doing the big dramatic "I/Miles loves you more than anything" speeches to his parents without detailing that either of them were Spiderman. Because if I was his parents I would immediately think my kid was either dead or committed a felony if they said that to me.

Movie’s box office is currently at $506.7 million. $119 million more than the total gross of the first film.

So many thoughts about this story Yeah the new stories coming out about the unsustainable working conditions and how Miller wants to edit fully completed and rendered scenes instead of editing before final rendering just sound awful. It took me two hours yesterday to put together a five second animation that looks like a toddler drew it. I can’t imagine having to fully render full scenes of this movie just to have them cut.

It took me two hours yesterday to put together a five second animation that looks like a toddler drew it. I can’t imagine having to fully render full scenes of this movie just to have them cut. Suddenly, the choice of splitting this as two parts seems less like a creative decision and more like a side-effect of Miller overstepping his boundaries.

That sucks to hear, but I'm not surprised. Really even just seeing it in the theater I was getting the sense this had to be hell for animators, and that editing after final rendering thing is an utterly insane cherry on top.

So many thoughts about this story Guessing it'll be pushed back and replaced by the new ghostbusters movie or Madmame Web.

Just got back from it and enjoyed it. I had no idea about the cliffhanger, but I'm glad they didn't rush the ending. I'm also glad I got off my ass to go see it. I didn't see the first one in the cinema and regretted that.

Yeah, I’ve called out this stuff before and even loving the movie like I do, it’d be hypocritical to not call out this stuff going on for this project.
As someone said on Twitter, it’s normal to have people leave a project when it’s done in any art form for various reasons. If around 100 quit a project during the time it’s in production, that’s on management not them.

Apparently there was an Agents of Shield reference no one really caught in the movie. When Miles is coming through a window into his dorm room there’s news clippings next to it. One is the “Hero or Rogue?” clipping from AoS Season 4 when Quake went rogue and has the same picture of her and all.

So it's out that there are actually at least two different versions of the movie in theaters at the moment, which to me combined with that rendering thing is just kind of, "Holy shit learn some restraint with the vision and stop doing extraneous work."

Yeah, this movie is starting to feel a lot like an artist got WAY carried away with what they COULD do vs. what they SHOULD do.

I feel like there’s a line between “You can make a bold & inventive sequel to a bold & inventive film” and “You’re not Stanley Kubrick, stop killing people to make a Spidey cartoon” that needs to be toed better in the future.

I wouldn’t look into it as anything beyond just a shoutout that one of the background artists snuck into the film.

So many thoughts about this story Words that Phil Lord and Christopher Miller need to hear: Back in the day: "With great power there must also come--great responsibility!" Now: "Crunch is not a triumph of the workforce, but a failure of the management."

The film returned to #1 this weekend, it’s fourth domestic weekend with $19.3 Million.
