Eh. If he apologized about it, and still did the thing which caused him to apologize, which had caused him being fired, then that's not much of an apology at all. I'm not defending him, certainly on his N word rant but he apologised for that. Many times over the years and I do believe him. This joke was bad but it's strange, in the UK it wouldn't be offensive, in the US it obviously is. Cornette is a strange character. If you listen to him regularly, like I do, you can tell he's very Liberal. He's not homophobic, racist or anything else but he is stuck in the past. Much like his wrestling opinions, which some of I do agree, he's 40 years behind too. That's not true. People in the UK aren't ignorant of that stereotype, nor would fail to understand the implications of the Ethiopian association. Next you'll have Cornette calling a gay person the f word and you'll say "in the UK no one would blink if it was used like that because different meaning here"

I've been punched while being called the F word during my teen years and I cringe when I hear it used even in reference to a cigarette. The only time I've ever heard the stereotype is through the Internet, I've never once heard it in "real life", hence my belief its not a "UK thing", if it does exist here then I take it back. My point being that when I heard the joke I didn't make any kind of racist connection until I saw the backlash. I thought it was a bad joke, a dated one at best.

So, NWA has announced who will be doing commentary at NWA Into the Fire, and I'm afraid I've got some bad news. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}It's the former Wade Barrett, Stu Bennett!

They also announced cornette's departure... And that way it was scripted in combination with the music made it sound like he had died. Lololol.

He was someone I hoped would go to AEW, but another nice addition to the NWA. Does this mean he’s done as an active wrestler, though?

I don't believe that he's actually wrestled one single match since he left WWE, and that was nearly four years ago.

Let's move the new announcer talk to the dedicated thread.
Locking this discussion, it's died down and frankly I don't wanna see it anymore. If something new pops up with Corny, we can have a new thread.
As a personal note though, I'd prefer we ignore him for a while like Russo. It's exhausting.
