I saw it being discussed in the Wrestle Kingdom thread but thought it deserved its own topic.

...I wish I could say I'm surprised, but given that Impact is on AXS and Anthem owns the network now, it is more or less Anthem getting the more popular brand off of the network to try and get people to watch Impact on AXS.

Honestly ESPN should look at picking them up. They’ve got about a billion channels and an app. I think that would work out well for both sides.

Good luck with that, ESPN has basketball commitments in the winter (Of the NCAA and NBA variety) baseball commitments in the Spring/Summer/Early fall (MLB, NCAA College world series and Little League) and of course almighty football (NCAA and Monday Night Football + their football studio programming like College Gameday or NFL Countdown and stuff). I could see NJPW getting an U.S. home on a Viacom Channel (With an highlight package on CBS quarterly as part of CBS' Sports Spectacular) cue up the V of Doom if it's a Viacom channel getting the U.S. NJPW rights

Honestly sounds like a long time coming and has little to do with Impact.

Right close to Wrestle Kingdom, too.
I hope a bigger network can get NJPW, and have the events aired on TV sooner if possible.

Honestly sounds like a long time coming and has little to do with Impact. Right when Anthem bought the channel, they cancelled the MMA Shows there and fired the people responsible for bringing them and NJPW to AXS It has everything to do with Impact, their making sure that their the only thing on there

And considering it was one of their more popular stuff at the time...would be weird to cancel it unless there were massive issues we don’t know about.

Maybe my wish will come true and we'll get an NJPW Twitch channel, pretty please?

So my worst fears about Anthem buying AXS have been realized. Great.

Yeah, this sounds like they wanted NJPW to become an Impact partner and when they didn't bite they killed it.

If RoH had any sense, they’d try and get Sinclair to free up some timeslots and reestablish their partnership that way.

It's wild to remember a time when The Fight Network was the one place I could go to hear Mauro Ranallo talking about how much Victory Road 09 sucked

So this makes NJPW World really the only reasonable (legal) outlet to watch Wrestle Kingdom in the US, doesn't it?
