It's not wrestling, it's not even 'sports entertainment'. It's elaborate break dancing.
I can get people liking this kinda thing for the athleticism but it's so far removed from the basic things I like about wrestling that I just don't enjoy it.

I have no problem with exchanges like this but this particular one wasn't great. It doesn't actually look like they're competing even in a 'top this' sort of way and is basically a choreographed dance.

Looked more sloppy than anything. I dont know enough about Christian but I know Oliver is insanely young and I think he is growing out of that style

Same here, I like when a wrestling match is an all out slug-fest of two guys trying to destroy each other. These guys in the clip dancing around with each other is embarrassing to watch.

My favorite exchange in this style was actually in Melbourne City Wrestling involving Adam Brooks and Will Ospreay. Ospreay does his fake out ending with the superhero pose and Brooks just does his own through a front roll and then slaps Ospreay. Between that and a out on his feet Brooks spitting on Ospreay it really made it seem like it was a battle of one-upmanship with Ospreay actually going nuts and kicking and stomping on Brook's head for it.

I misread this as John Oliver at first. I'm now disappointed it wasn't John Oliver doing a Kaufman-esque trolljob where he KILLS THE BUSINESS.

It was an athletic exhibition of how to do, at best, gymnastic routines.

I didn't like it much except the parts where they backflipped over the sweep kicks and such. That was neat.
I think it says a lot about how shitty people are about it though that it's impossible for someone to post something like this without several paragraphs justifying it preemptively against the vitriol they are about to receive.

The hilarious part is all the Twitter outrage dumping all over the spot is actually promoting the shit out of Oliver and Christian. Like, they're announcing new bookings that may be a direct result of Cornette tweeting out the sequence.

Just a rougher version of that Will Ospreay(?) sequence from a few years back.
Not a huge fan of it, but if it gets these guys more bookings, especially if the cloud yeller is making a fuss of it, more power to them.

My thing with that particular sequence in the video is that it was so blatantly rehearsed and choreographed that it in no way looked like they were against each other and trying to attack or outdo each other. Looked more like they were on the same team and it was almost like a dance routine and they were helping each other remember the next steps. There was no story of one upmanship there at all (I love Nicole Matthews but that's a reach lol.)That said, I don't think this kind of style is "killing the business" and as someone previously said, the right kinda guys like Ricochet, Ospreay, Lucha Bros etc can even make it look amazing and legit, so it's good to see it sometimes. I mean, I've never wrestled a day in my life, she has, therefore if she says that there's a story of one upmanship, there must be one, she's the actual wrestler, we're not. That’s an odd take to have. Telling a story should come across to the audience and not just to other wrestlers. Don’t think her being a wrestler gives her any more of an insight on this particular subject.

These guys are still pretty young in the business, after this bad sequence they have a great match. I hate Jim Cornette and Im happy when stuff like this pisses off the out of touch racist in disguise

Also thanks Cornette for supporting the supposedly outlaw mud show you hate. Thanks for keeping GCW rent free in your mind

I've always thought flippety-floppety moves with counter/reversal-ending in a stand-off looked stupid as hell, and this was really badly done. I mean, if you like it, cool, but I don't.

Thought it was fine. What a weird thing to get people in a huff. At least these guys are gonna get more bookings out of it.

Doesn’t look any less fake or stupid than half the punches you see in wrestling

Don’t hate the concept, but hated the execution. Like others said, it doesn’t actually look like they’re trying to attack each other. It looked more like a dance routine or athletic exhibition.
