Story now is Ibush getting his confidence back I can see come Dominion Naito challenging Ibushi like Okada did to Omega before Or even Okada chasing Tanahashi for several WKs in a row before beating him. These arcs as a Gedo speciality and from what I heard watching the match from the crowd, the people with me and on here, it freaking works. Yea, even if Gedo should have put the title on Naito two years ago, he is a master at taking history and just putting it all together. They used the disappointment of two years ago in their favor and just Naito legacy in general Omega/Okada always had a ton of callbacks and obviously Okada/Tanahashi is top notch storytelling using all their history

I honestly loved him from the start but I understand that many people don't like him because of his voice. Though really I think the last two days has shown that a 4 man booth could actually...kinda work. I do think Gino is a bit too much but other than that it worked pretty well

Just gonna add here also that god damn KENTA was incredible at New Year's Dash.
Literally spent every second he could being the biggest asshole in the universe to the point where the crowd erupted in boos every time he even touched Naito.

This is one of those things where he is one of the few guys who can pull that off Him knowing English and talking shit to the fans after WK was funny and obviously his character work has been really good in NJPW and it is shining here Imagine if he came there in his physical prime with this personality. If this wasn't Naito crowning achievement and it was more like his 4th reign, i'd say Gedo would have put the IWGP title on KENTA for a small run

I know injuries played a big part of it, but this just shows how wasted KENTA was in WWE.

Injuries def played a big part Losing 2 years and watching Finn surpass him really f***ed him over because he was no doubt THE GUY in that 3 team class of him, Finn and KO NJPW got KENTA in a good spot. He's motivated and probably the healthiest he's been since before he came into WWE and had the shoulder surgery and neck problem

And yet whatever schedule or training Kenta was having as clearly worse for him. And still, he never really got a shot in the main roster.

Sometimes things come down to luck His shoulder blew out after all those years of a rough style. KENTA essentially was done for almost 2 years of time and his last year and a half of WWE was basically just getting back into shape and working off ring ruse NJPW got him at the perfect time to show he can still go while also KENTA having an edge because he knew how much he fell

I'm relieved that they finally put the big belt on Naito, but I can't help but feel like they're presenting LIJ as a lot less tight-knit as they used to be.
Up until Hiromu's injury, they were ultra ride-or-die together.
Now, every time Naito gets beat down and left laying, we don't really see the rest of them come out to back him up. Here or there we might get EVIL or Bushi to come out, but it just doesn't feel the same now.

Pretty sure its seen as a way to get them more sympathy, even though it makes the stable system look weak

I saw people grumbling on Twitter and thought Okada had retained. Then I saw Naito won and wondered why people were complaining. Then I saw the KENTA thing, and I wondered why are people getting upset over a Naito vs. KENTA feud. Then I realized what happened. However, it's really starting to dawn on me that Naito is, essentially, NJPW's Tommy Dreamer. Even when he gets what he wants, he still never quite gets to have his moment. And it's time to just accept that and look towards the future. Dreamer's career has never been about what just happened, it's always been.. what happens now. And that's similar to Naito now.... yes, he's a double-champion now. Yes, he finally got his big win over Okada at WK. Yes, he finally has the IWGP Championship. But the focus isn't on what he did... the focus is on how he'll respond to KENTA and what will happen when they throw down. I think it's time for NJPW to get their version of Dreamer vs. Raven mixed in with some of WWE's recent greatness. What joshis could there be avaible for this?

Even Douki could stomp his ass into paste.

We got some separate ass whoopings but CHAOS itself is the biggest stable that is a non stable in a long time

I want Okada and Yoshi Hashi to win the tag titles just because It's probably the only way I'd be interested in a YOSHI-HASHI angle. It'd actually be kind of interesting, Okada trying to make something of his friend. The group fired Captain New Japan before he assumed that gimmick due to losing too much. YOSHI-HASHi can't be said to be much better when they have Tanahashi extend an offer to mentor him, and then take it back in disgust, or have, what was it, commentary or one of the wrestlers who joked Tacos should be sent on excursion to Siberia? He's got to be the lowest guy in the totem pole of the stable, and I'm including Eagles and Mikey in that estimation. I'd love to see if the Rainmaker can change Yoshi's fortunes.

I like shitting on Yoshi-Tatsu more than anyone here, and I would like this a lot. Let's see Tacos get some shine, if done right this could be a great angle and the crowd would be behind it 100%
