That was a great match and after all he's gone through you can tell he's earned that. Well deserved.

Naito achieves the destino, Hiromu's recovered, and his buddy Andrade's engaged. Life's good for Naito.

The beauty of New Japan is that the crushing blow that was the result of 2 years ago made today's match and result all the better. No other company can get me as emotional as New Japan does. Incredible.

Incredible. Yeah, as much as I wanted Naito to win back then, I wouldn't really trade it for this. This makes it worth it, plus meant Omega got his vindication, too, Tanahashi got his probably last hurrah, and Jay got his first taste of greatness. It's hard to say how much of that happens if Naito won back then.

I'd be happier if it didn't happen two years too late for me to care.

Even with the KENTA heat, I don’t think Naito’s achievement was totally diluted. He still got the two belts and was able to tell Okada off after two years. It’s a testament to how effective NJPW is with booking over long stretches of time without it feeling too dull, and because of that it makes for an easy product to keep up with.

I don’t think anything will undo the feeling of Naito losing two years back, but I still loved seeing this finally happen for him.
I’m also rapidly growing appreciation for the storyline role of the IC title in this booking saga. The belt going from the object that took his main event spot to the key that opened the door to his Destino is brilliant.

He got his moment to hang in the sun. While yes, he didn't get to close out the show standing tall, Naito got what he wanted but the fans didn't in a sense due to KENTA which helps the angle I have no problem with it. It now brings a motivated Naito who had his moment "ruined" by KENTA and will be out for blood

I saw people grumbling on Twitter and thought Okada had retained. Then I saw Naito won and wondered why people were complaining. Then I saw the KENTA thing, and I wondered why are people getting upset over a Naito vs. KENTA feud. Then I realized what happened.
However, it's really starting to dawn on me that Naito is, essentially, NJPW's Tommy Dreamer. Even when he gets what he wants, he still never quite gets to have his moment. And it's time to just accept that and look towards the future. Dreamer's career has never been about what just happened, it's always been.. what happens now. And that's similar to Naito now.... yes, he's a double-champion now. Yes, he finally got his big win over Okada at WK. Yes, he finally has the IWGP Championship. But the focus isn't on what he did... the focus is on how he'll respond to KENTA and what will happen when they throw down.

The belt going from the object that took his main event spot to the key that opened the door to his Destino is brilliant. What an amazing moment and a great match, better than the match two years ago. It sucked what happened at WK 12, and that was his peak of popularity, but I love how the IC title story played into this and Naito finally had his moment in the sun, even if KENTA ruined it at the end.
