You know I was a young boy at the time but you really don't hear about Dick Tracy (the movie) these days. At the time it was a big movie: a movie starring Warren Beatty, Madonna, Al Pacino and even a short bit with Dustin Hoffman, a tie in with McDonald's, and an action figure line.
Also I want to congratulate anybody who ever beat Dick Tracy the videogame. Those snipers on the top of buildings can go to hell.

Amongst a ton of famous people cameos and big stars in rather small roles, it reunited Sonny and Michael. Also, in a movie full of great music, it gave us this absolute gem. We've yet to get a really good home release of this (barebones only, when this movie SCREAMS 2-disc deluxe edition with docs/interviews galore) but I hope this year generates one...

I loved this film, but I will always have two quibbles with it: The opening massacre (such a waste of characters) and 80% of the action figure line, which went for a dumb "coats-off" aesthetic and looked really stupid.

Loved the movie as a kid and had a few of the action figures and a nice watch with the movie logo in the center of it. Another thing I specifically remember was the McDonalds tie in game which was like their Monopoly game where you collected pieces from their menu items to catch certain gangsters.

Yeah, the Brow was easily in the top 5 of all Dick Tracy foes. He gets almost all the dialogue in that scene but yeah.....always was odd that they had him gone so quickly. Fun factoid: the year the movie came out, Max Allan Collins kinda/sorta cashed in on the attention by introducing 3 new versions (their kids, IIRC) of the movie's top foes in the comic strip: Little Boy, Restless Mahoney, and Hi-Top Jones.

I really wish they'd release an extended version of the movie with all the deleted scenes put back in.

Love it. The make up team killed it.

For an even longer time than that, there has been one question on my mind...
Dick Tracy... is he a good cop?

LOVE this movie. I saw it in theaters when I was seven, and they had the speakers rumbling. The sound was up to eleven.
I had almost all the toys, minus Mumbles and The Blank. I had a sketch artist toy, where you could mix and match face plates to make even weirder looking bad guys.
And yeah, the soundtrack is dope.

Love the flick.
Hate that the character isn't a part of pop culture anymore really, I think he has one of the best rogue galleries ever.

See, we are for the people! And if you’re not for the people, you can’t buy the people! -Lincoln.
Still have a ton of childhood nostalgia for this movie, and I still bump the soundtrack.

Tried watching it and fell asleep.
Maybe I’ll try again someday.

The shootout at the end is top shelf too.
I mailed away for a Dick Tracy watch. Back then, the "walkie-talkie" was just a little light when you pressed the button. Now we got Apple watches and shit thanks to Tracy.
And yeah, Pacino is god levels of chewing scenery here.

Wasn't there stories/rumors of him wanting to do a sequel a few years ago? I mean, Warren is a cool guy, but he's ancient, and so is the rest of the cast. Some are dead too. Not to mention everybody died in the original movie. But a prequel with a young Tracy would be cool, with Beatty directing or just producing.
