I talked about this in another thread but I wanted to start a thread of its own to keep track of which companies have been doing the right thing (paid leave, donations, etc.) and conversely companies that are showing that they are just evil (immediate layoffs, raising prices, etc.).
I'll go first.
My company, RSMUS, is the fifth largest accounting company in the world behind the big four (Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, and EY). The company's response has been tremendous. They've expanded their employee assistance program to allocate more funds for coach on call so you have someone to just talk through your problems, allocated more funds for dependent care, and offered money for every employee every week to help offset the cost of food delivery or groceries. An absolutely great response.
On the flip side, I have friends and family who work in the casino industry. A casino in Minnesota, Running Aces, just flat out fired all of their dealers. They framed it as, "allowing those people access to their 401ks and to more easily allow unemployment claims." What a load of bullshit. Most casinos have been donating food that was going to rot to food pantries, schools that are providing sack lunches, etc. as well as keeping their employees on the payroll and paying some combination of their regular wage plus an average of their tips over x time. Minnesota is a right to work state, so they are screwed in that regard.
I didn't want to start another thread on this virus, but I do think it is very important to document what companies do what in these trying times so maybe people can decide when this blows over where they want to spend their money.

Work for an auto insurance company. They issued all the claims adjusters laptops or USBs and sent us home.
Not a lot of claims coming in and I think we all see the writing on the wall, but they genuinely seem to be doing their best for the moment.

A big boo for Richard Branson of Virgin worth over 4 billion GBP
Virgin Airlines 8000 staff: 8 weeks unpaid leave. He's also demanding a government bailout.
Shout out to ex footballer and now hotel owner Gary Neville who has said no staff will take unpaid leave and has opened his hotel free to medical personnel.

I have mixed feelings with a company I work for (which I won’t publicly name). In some ways they really should’ve been prepared better than they were. I work in healthcare, working with people with disabilities, and you’d think they’d at least have a small inventory of emergency supplies outside of the actual programs for cleaning and hygiene purposes. But instead they are wholly dependent on outside vendors so once stock runs out in the programs, it’s up to our vendors to replace it and as you can imagine they’re a little busy right now. From what I can tell no emergency supply of our own ever existed or if it did it was far, far lacking in what was needed. Luckily the vendors have been arguably better than you’d expect. Some bare essentials like toilet paper have had some issues though so some programs have had to scramble.
They have some pretty good protocols in place to cut down the risk of catching the virus. I work in many of the programs so I have seen some inconsistencies in how the protocols are being practiced in each place which is troubling. Things have to run smoother because this really isn’t the time to dick around.
Lastly, a few days ago I have to give some respect to the company. I had a co-worker come in and leave during the middle of the shift without telling anyone in the program. I only found out when one of our nurses called me a short time later. Pretty much the co-worker was willing to sit in the program and get paid as long as she didn’t have to work. She felt unsafe. If you feel unsafe absolutely 100% stay home! However, many people in our programs have chronic illnesses. COPD, asthma, etc. It goes without saying some will cough and show some signs of illness. But they need caretakers too. Many of our clients are very vulnerable and they need lots of attention.
They ended up exchanging her to another program for the night and I haven’t seen her since.
If you work in healthcare and feel so unsafe you can’t do your job please stay home. Don’t go in and neglect the most vulnerable of our society just to collect a paycheck.

Company I work for has said they'd pay us two weeks regular pay in the event of a temporary closure. Given everything, it's nice to have that protection.

I think you’re all familiar with the nonsense Gamestop is trying to pull (asking employees to disobey laws to shut down by claiming to be an “essential service”).

Hot Topic sent an email that they'd be closing for two weeks and paying their staff, so that's good. There's an account on twitter compiling a list of every other business they can find doing similar things twitter.com/PayingPPL

Lego closed their retail stores and are paying their staff.
The company I work for makes something used for cleaning products so we're in demand right now. If anybody feels sick or comes in contact with anybody and the company sends us home, we get paid. All the office personnel are working from home as well. For production, it's business as usual but being even more diligent to clean and sanitize work stations.

Amazon was (not sure if they still are) pushing a program where rather than extending additional sick leave to employees, healthy employees are to give their sick hours away to those who miss work.
Jeff Besos is a piece of shit.

We’re all still working, haven’t had any known cases in or around our job site yet. So far the plan is to keep going until something changes, in which case we’ll be running a skeleton crew using a staff of volunteers. Everyone who volunteers will be making straight overtime pay for the duration but will need to be retested for the virus every morning when they come in. Everyone else who doesn’t volunteer to work will be given an additional 100 hours of paid time off on top of whatever they already have saved up, which in my case will amount to almost a month and a half of PTO.
So, no complaints from me.

working from home currently. I work for the government so we all get paid regardless but they're definitely handling it the right way.

Work for county government in archives. At 50% staffing but I get the feeling we will be closed next week for (insert amount of time here).
Thankfully I have many distractions at home and I'm a short walk away from a historic graveyard which has many 18th century burials.

So we were given the rest of the week off but as a loan servicer our lenders forced us to come in for work. Our bosses are setting it up for us to work from home but it's taking a bit of time but will be working from home going forward and will be given extra perks

I bet Lanny Poffo could have self-isolated in peace.
