Got an e-mail from LA Fitness to let members know that if they don’t cancel their memberships, they won’t be charged until a club in their respective area reopens. Thought that was a nice olive branch. my gym put a freeze on all memberships until this is over which was also nice. Meanwhile 24 hour fitness said they will start freezing account starting April 16. A full month after they closed and many members dues start at the 1st of the month.

Never have given them a cent, and don't plan on giving them a cent. How can you call yourself a hobby store, and not sell baseball cards? Also, when we got one here, my dad went in to check it out, and he told me that they were asking for twice as much as Home Depot does for metal character signs.

3M is getting torn apart given some reports they tried selling masks internationally. Strong jeer if true. Cheer to that My Pillow guy. Though admittedly he should've avoided bringing up one thing.

There’s such an easy PR layup for privately held companies with wealthy owners here. Can you imagine the press if they’d simply told their employees “go home for the duration, we will continue to pay you, your benefits will not be affected”?

Cheers to Uber Eats who is doing $0 delivery fee for certain local restaurants.
Jeers to Grubhub for just doing free delivery for first time users.
And MAJOR jeers to Domino's who appear to have jacked their prices and fees up during this time.

The Grand Champion of how to handle this situation poorly. Hope the employees file a class action suit and consumers never forget.

Cheers to Allstate Insurance. Owing to the significantly reduced traffic and subsequent drop in auto accidents, Allstate is sending checks out to their customers.

The local gym I go to has put a freeze on membership fees for the time being. They sent out emails saying that if they can open by April 14, they will take half off memberships for the month of April.
As for my work, I'm unsure if they are being good or not. I think they are doing their best. We're furloughed so we aren't officially being fired, but we aren't getting paid either. But they are letting us use our paid time off and sick leave in order to keep getting paid and we are able to apply for unemployment benefits as well. They are also letting us stay on the company's healthcare benefits, but only for as long as our sick leave would hold out, after that, we're on our own basically. But, my company keeps most everyone on part time so no one really qualifies for the health insurance anyway.

Jeers to office depot for acting like they're home depot. Yesterday, I saw a Camelot 331 video about them staying all the way open.

Menards is a mixed bag.
Cheers: We're getting an extra two bucks an hour on weekdays until towards the end of June, and we'll be closing on Easter this year. Jeers: If anyone has to quarantine, they either have to use all their vacation days or the quarantine is entirely unpaid. Major jeers: Menards also got nailed by the Feds for price gouging in an attempt to take advantage of the pandemic.

Hotels.com are clearing no questions asked refunds, and when I asked the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Leeds, they'll honor refunds for my room in August that I booked months ago if Leeds Pride is cancelled that weekend.

Cheers to Allstate Insurance. Owing to the significantly reduced traffic and subsequent drop in auto accidents, Allstate is sending checks out to their customers. I work for an auto insurance company, and I know mine and several other companies are not cancelling policies until at least the end of May and are actively asking customers to contact us about reduced rates. Balance sheet is apparently not as f***ed as I thought since the loss of premium is balanced by the claims we won’t have to pay. They’re still paying me for not doing much right now, but at least they’re trying to do the right thing.

I was employed as a student worker at SIUE (my college) and because they sent home all of the staff, I couldn't work anymore. They've since said that any student employee will be paid according to how many hours they normally worked until the end of the semester. Such a weight off my chest.

Got an email from Geico saying that they’ll be 15% back on auto and motorcycle policies but credited to the next bill.
I guess that’s good.

Ha! Under some circumstances I’d have some sympathy, but years of shady practices and f***ing over consumers have finally come back on them. If Ticketmaster goes under, I’m sure a lot of the employees will find work with whomever rises from the ashes and we’ll all be better off.

Shoutout to The North Face for offering a one time 50% off coupon for a wide range of Heath Care workers and First Responders, and allowing me to get a very nice pair of $155 running shoes for $83 after taxes.
