I was rewatching it and Cornette tells Russo he cost the company 5 million dollars. The f***? Where did that number come from? Was it how much Doc contract was for? They overpaid. Or did Cornette really think Doc was going to make the company that much money? Which was never going to happen even without the Brawl For All. Could have been due to injuries. The guys that get injured still get their downsides, but they aren't working on shows helping to make money (granted there weren't many money makers in BFA), and WWE paying for their medical bills due to being injured in a WWE ring. Add in the money they had set aside for the winner, and any extra shit they have had to do. It could have been $5 million. $5 million wouldn't have been a stretch. Williams wouldn't have been that much, but the downsides for all the injured wrestlers, plus the lost ticket sales and merch, plus the added risk of relying heavier on the main event and upper card to take up the slack, would have put the figure close to or even more than that. Today, such an idea would likely cause a revolt against Vince by the entire roster, and probably have sent Russo packing. You don't, as a promoter, set out to injure your roster.

IMO Russo did the wrong thing for the right reason, in terms of getting at Bradshaw. Bradshaw deserves a good knocking out but not at the expense of multiple other guys. Russo probably had more pull with WWE at the time so why not just have a tough guy who he, Russo, may be tight with and knock Bradshaw out in front of the locker room.

There’s a counter argument that Russo might’ve made that up to look good since the JBL bullying stories started coming along, and that Bradshaw even if he was a loudmouth bragger at the time, he couldn’t have bullied anyone at that time since he was a beneath guy and there were legitimate tough guys in the locker room ie Severn, Shamrock and Blackman.

Nope. Dr.Death was never going to get that over in WWE at that stage of his career. I feel sorry for Bart Gunn, this could have lead to an IC Title push perhaps of they'd wanted it too. But Vince and JR clearly didn't like the fact he won the shoot fight they'd put him in. Yeah, I mean Bart Gunn was never going to be a megastar but they stumbled ass backwards into a situation where they could have gotten *something* out of him for a while. he would have been a fine midcard hand

If he was put fighting Butterbean as punishment, then we can agree getting punished for winning a contest that he was told was not a scripted event is a major Vince thing.

Russo was talking with Konnan and Disco and claims the idea wasn’t to get back at JBL but when he just bragged about it, that triggered Russo to come up with the idea. Oh and Konnan loved the Brawl For All.
