I've already seen some snyder cultists dropping off the boat... saying they'll just torrent the Snyder Cut... so... uh... good job AT&T placating a bunch of awful people that are openly talking about not giving you any money for it... Honestly I have no idea who they were thinking they were even appealing to with that. On one side you have a bunch of people who were pretty openly never actually going to give you money, on the other the general audience that didn't pay to see Justice League the first time that'd generally fall into the categories of 1), not caring enough about Justice League to shell out to see it again, 2), not being aware of the whole Snyder Cut thing so this to them would just be a black and white redux for some reason, or 3), openly being opposed to the stupid thing. It's basically just pissing money into the wind with no real way to benefit from it.

I don't think most people are against the movie itself... more just against how the Cultists and Snyder himself acted. Also hell the Cultists don't even need to watch it... they've already decided it's the greatest movie ever made.

I've seen others who are convinced the Snyder Cut will turn things around and make HBO Max the dominant streaming platform, and AT&T will see a huge boost in subscribers when it is released. I did point out that by that logic if most of the Snyder cult is waiting until May next year to subscribe then they'll be subscribing just long enough to watch it a few times and then cancelling. Nobody holds off on subscribing to something for that long if they've got any interest in the content that isn't the one thing they're signing up for, so if there is a huge boost in subscriber numbers come next May, in June there will be a huge drop off.

HBO Max is already better than Disney+, IMO.
It has more stuff that interests me.

I'm not sure if it's a sign of how awful this is doing or what, but AT&T called up yesterday and wanted to know if we wanted a free subscription to this for a year for "being such loyal customers." We already had HBO Now, but I guess this saves $15/month. Still can't watch the shit on our Roku, so it's all irrelevant anyway.

They should have shut down DC Universe and Boomerang and included it’s content at launch with this.

They should have shut down DC Universe and Boomerang and included it’s content at lunch with this. honestly surprised they didn't shut down the video aspect of DCU at this point... since they already have shows debuting elsewhere.

HBO Max had only 90,000 mobile downloads on launch day.
How big of a disaster is that? Should we keep in mind that HBO Max didn't launch on Roku or Firestick, and it only launched in the US?

Should we keep in mind that HBO Max didn't launch on Roku or Firestick, and it only launched in the US? 90,000 downloads for the mobile app, it was probably higher than that much at least. That said it's still pretty disastrous. They blew the chance to come out swinging the way Disney did and it's very likely that a lot of the initial sign-ups aren't going to stick around. It's not already a dead service or anything but they've lost a lot of momentum right off the bat and it'll be very hard to regain it, especially with the high price and confusing branding.

It's almost like they thought Friends, Big Bang Theory, and the existing HBO catalog was going to be enough for the masses. Friends and Big Bang Theory are ALL over syndication and if you already have the HBO catalog with actual HBO (and HBO on demand or HBO Go), there isn't much else to grab people. Not being on Roku/Firestick at launch is a major boner.

Weren't they supposed to be phasing out the DCU service in order to merge it into HBO Max? That's the biggest issue right now compared to Netflix: everything's so split up between niche services that HBO Max feels incomplete. Not to mention the confusing branding between Max, HBO Go, and HBO Now. Should've just called it something like Warner Direct or Warner Max.

Put the DCU shows on there, they also don't have the Superman movies, or the Nolan Trilogy. Add in the fact there's no Tales From the Crypt, and well, Big Bang Theory ain't enough to make me want to get it.

Or Montana Max and have it be a dedicated Tiny Toons streaming platform

Only reason I have it now is that I'm subscribed to HBO and Verizon FIOS has a deal with AT&T where HBO Max is free for current HBO subscribers. Like, I'm getting what I'm paying for, but there's no way I'd pay $15 a month for this when there's so many better options for cheaper.

If I want to watch Friends, which I don't, I'd turn on TBS

If I want to watch Friends, which I don't, I'd turn on TBS That and the uber-fans (I admit.... I'm one of them) already have the DVD Seasons or the entire Blu ray set. It's convenient to be able to stream, but I wouldn't pick my streaming service because of it.

There were complaints from some Netflix subscribers who said they were dropping the service if Friends left it. Warner pretty much called their bluff, and hoped they sign on to HBO Max for it.

I haven't used it because I don't like streaming videos on my computer... and I ahve a firestick so I'm pretty much out of luck until they fix that blunder... and even then they haven't really given me any reason to want to...
