Why does the game interrupt combat 30+ hours in to give me the same tips about which stance to use that I've already seen half a dozen times without an option to disable them. I do have a brain.

I enjoy the combat in the game, it's really fun. Everything else is just so-so, in my opinion. I think it's because I'm not a big fan of the Assassin's Creed games and this is basically Assassin's Creed: Samurai Edition.

All this talk about Sucker Punch and I thought you were all talking about that shitty Zack Snyder movie and was completely confused.

Platinumed it last night and overall it was just okay. The art style and first five or so hours were great buy eventually it just becomes too much of an alright thing.
There are so many side missions and most of them dont offer anything new or have interesting stories.
The combat at the start of the game was great because it's fast paced and both your enemy and you are equally brittle. After a while though, your health bar gets bigger and so do theirs making it that even fully upgraded, the higher leveled enemies take a lot of hits, making it that I would just parry and mash the heavy attack button until they fell.
The stealth is as basic as it gets and isn't fun at all.
So overall, it's a 5/10 for me.

Patch 1.05 is out today.
There is a new difficulty called Lethal, which in addition to tougher enemy AI, also shortens the dodge and parry windows.
Lower Combat Intensity is new and kind of self explanatory. The developer described it as an option to open the game up for people who have trouble timing their attacks.
We also have text options now. Make it bigger, change the color and/or remove the speaker’s name when it appears.

Even with the new Lethal difficulty I am steamrolling the game at this point.
Fully upgraded Kensei armor + Kunai + Charm that ups drop rate = Unstoppable killing machine. I just run headlong into every camp throw some kunai and everyone’s dead in a few strikes later.
Haven’t done anything in Act II yet. Just been running around discovering and killing.

Man, i'm still in Act 1 Can not understate how fun this game is to just pick up and play and once you start hitting God mode it doesn't even lessen the fun factor

Just got the Dance of Wrath skill. Thus far, I’d say my favorite part of the game are the duels, since those feel like you’re controlling a climactic battle in a samurai movie. No ghost weapons, no ranged weapons, just a pure katana duel.

Yea, every time they pop up I get hype because it just feels like you're in a movie You have to pay attention to movements cause I got my ass kicked a few times early on especially for one of the Mythic missions

Just hit Act III. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} KAGE NOOOOOOOOOO.
This was the horse death I didn’t get in RDR2 (I had switched my mount to a rando horse I had no connection to right before the mission of no return so I just shrugged it off)
This one hurt.
End of Act II {Spoiler} I didn’t have any sympathy for Taka though. He was told by everyone to leave. To stay away. To get safe. And he just kept following his ghost. Dude... you very much brought that beheading on yourself.

Just finished. In I and II I did every mission I could, with III I just did the ally’s quests and main story. For as amazing as this game is, I’d be lying if I didn’t call it repetitive in gameplay, amazing story, but I was ready for this journey to be over.
And man was it worth it! No spoilers but such an impactful ending. I played the whole game in Kurosawa mode, and that climax was beautiful. The cinematography, the music, everything. What an epic tale.
Im definitely gonna step aside from this game for awhile and let everything marinate. Can’t wait though to pick it back up in afew months and play it in color, I feel it will be a whole new experience.

If you do a lot of ghost level stuff then it will thunderstorm

So after a couple days away, I started up a new game to clear out the prologue and get ready for a second play through, this time in English and in color. I decided for shits and giggles to do it on Lethal, and then lower the difficulty after awhile.
But holy hell is Lethal so much more fun to play! I can’t believe this wasn’t in the game at launch, because its the definitive way to play the game.
What’s amazing is it removes the tedious part of combat, the hacking away at enemies, and enhances the best part, the feeling of being a legit badass.
With Lethal all you need to do is get 1 or 2 hits in and your enemy is down. You can clear out a group of 7 mongols in 30 seconds without using the extended standoff or ghost stance abilities. It definitely forces you to change how you engage in a fight, you can’t just run in to a skirmish and rely on resolve (and resolve enhancing charms) to heal and keep going. All it takes is one or two strikes from the enemy and you are dead. You can’t afford to not to be patient, wait for your enemy to attack and sidestep or parry and counteract. If fighting without honor is more your thing, you can completely go up to an enemy that’s engaged with an ally NPC and just slash them in the back to kill them. Its that easy.
This second play was already gonna be a new experience by playing in color, but Lethal mode makes it a whole new game.

Started Act 3. At this point, I'm not even sure if Cyberpunk could change my mind on this being my Game of the Year.
I do like how the difficulty seems to scale with the game as well, or at least it is in Hard Mode.

Question; Is there a point of no return, or once you beat the main story are you free to continue exploring and do trophy cleanup?

Probably going to finish the main story the next night or two then!
