"Main Event" Mike Foxx. Top Texas guy but far as he went outside of that was kissing Raven's foot on an episode of Heat.

I remember for a while people were talking about some dude named Beef Wellington, but that might have been some kind of big prank or something.
I feel like if Portia Perez was a couple of years younger, she'd have definitely made it to AEW.

Wrestling's weird in that there have been at least two Beef Wellingtons and at least one Biff Wellington, if I recall correctly. The one you probably would have heard of was kind of an early viral hit wrestler whose thing was jumping off the top rope to punch his opponent in the ass. It was the dickplex of its day.

This is just a nostalgia based fun thread. Let’s just list and talk about some old indie faves I broke out some old ROH dvds while I was moving. Watching “Redemption” from 2005. Opening match was Delirious and Sterling James Keenan who both went on to be important. Then we’ve got Matt Stryker who was good but charisma impaired. He apparently retired in 2005. In a similar vein I found out Chad Collyer is a magician. I mostly couldn’t believe Daizee Haze has been retired for 9 years. I always enjoyed her. I remember her most honestly as part of the BDK in Chikara which I loved. What's Daizee Haze been up to? I remember thinking she looked like a mini Trish Stratus around the mid 2000's. I thought she was great and really cute. Then the last time I saw her about 10 years ago she looked painfully thin and unhealthy. I read rumors that she was on drugs and that would have been easy to believe with her appearance. Hopefully she is doing better now. what's worse about that was I remember crowds being really worried about her and doing htings like please eat a sandwhich at her... and the commentators saying like "look at how ripped she is you can't get in that kinda shape without eating she's fine!" when it was pretty damned obvious she was not fine... Some more I just thought of... The Ring Crew Express, Dunn and Marcos. I loved their gimmick and name. Dunn and Markos were awesome... I was always bummed they never got to be more but like opener joke jobbers. they just wanted to rock us like a hurricane Rumor was Homicide claimed Maff was with some under age girl. Yeah, supposedly it was like his cousin or something.

Does Amazing Red count? It seems like he really should have gotten a big break in either WWE or even AEW, to my knowledge, he still wrestles, same with UK indy stars Jonny Storm and Jody Fleisch.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. He did have some time in TNA, and has done some NJPW work, surprisingly, quite recently. AEW seems decently possible for him to pop up in eventually, though, even for maybe a one-off, considering he trained Private Party.

I thought Jody Fleisch was going to be the UK's Rey Mysterio when I first heard of him in about '99. I keep bringing up WOW Magazine but they really were a great resource to hear about non-mainstream wrestlers at a time when you couldn't just look them up on YouTube or whatever and Fleisch was someone they were really high on. I think injuries caught up with him pretty fast because he seemed all but done by the time the UK boom happened. He's made a comeback since I know but I'm not sure he's ever wrestled full time since that initial buzz started building around him.

I miss Lacey and Becky Bayless from the early days of ROH. It’s crazy to think Lacy was gone so soon. She pretty much started (or was the reason for) the Age Of The Fall and was gone soon after. I’ll just throw the names Pelle Primeu and Ernie Osiris just in case that triggers some nostalgia for anyone.

Eddy I think focused a lot on rebuilding the Canadian indy scene. Ironically I saw Beef Wellington mentioned and he is another guy that focused on that even creating Battle Bowl. To go along with that another guy who would probably be bigger who helped rebuild the Canadian scene is Franky The Mobster. Supposedly according to Kevin Owens he never got a shot cause people think he is juiced

He's made a comeback since I know but I'm not sure he's ever wrestled full time since that initial buzz started building around him. I remember him being considered the absolute best British wrestling had to offer at the time. In hindsight it said a lot about how poor the UK scene was at the time, because going back and watching him and Jonny Storm they were the archetypal indy spot monkeys. Fleisch was very good at taking nasty-looking bumps and could do impressive gymnastic spots - which is probably what made him take time off in the mid-2000s - but didn't really do much in the way of selling. I've heard somewhat mixed things about modern work. His style was at least a bit more contemporary than most wrestlers on the UK scene at the time, though.
Talking of British cruiserweights, I was reminded a couple of days ago of the Dirtbike Kid, now most notorious for getting walloped by the Great Sasuke. Fleisch was on the tour during which that match happened, as was Jason Cross I think. He seemed to disappear from the business around 2000, I think just because he had such an enormous ego and had pissed so many people off that no one would book him anymore. I think I heard somewhere that he works on the Tube now.

Dirt Bike Kid! There's a name I've not thought of in a while. Such an odd career, not sure if had a bit of money behind him because I think he trained in America and possibly paid his way onto his international tours too. Had some kind of link to Sabu if I remember rightly and even got a couple of shots in ECW. But as you say, it seemed to be all over as quickly as it started, maybe the money ran out.

Had some kind of link to Sabu if I remember rightly and even got a couple of shots in ECW. But as you say, it seemed to be all over as quickly as it started, maybe the money ran out. Yeah, he booked Sabu on a show in London in the mid nineties against himself, the match is apparently horrendous. I wondered the same thing about him being a money mark, he booked a few ECW guys for UK shows in the nineties - most notably Mikey Whipwreck and Van Dam - so I reckon he probably had a bit of cash.
I found myself looking him up the other day to see what happened to him, and the man was apparently an absolute dickhead. The stories are amazing, he blamed Jason Cross and Jody Fleisch for his getting beaten up in Japan rather than his own massive ego and bad attitude and claimed credit for getting them on that tour, he upset Doc Dean (apparently known as a very mild-mannered and easy-going bloke) so much that Dean refused to do a job for him on an All-Star show, annoyed Karl Kramer so much that Kramer deliberately blew a high spot and injured him pretty badly, and fell out with the UWA promoters after the first show and was never booked by them again. Rumour has it he stiffed wrestlers on pay too, and got kicked out of the ECW locker room because he was so obnoxious. Supposedly he quit wrestling to be a stuntman initially, but I suspect his retirement was hastened by how many people he had pissed off; he reckoned in an interview done years ago that the only British wrestler he'd never had a problem with (IE who didn't hate him) was Alex Shane.

I miss Prince Nana and Jimmy Rave/Outkast Killaz. They were a fun stable to hate back in the early days of ROH.
