Yeah, as much as it didn’t do much for him PR wise, there was a reason he mentioned the legality a lot. Well, a few but the main reason being that they have to negotiate for him to be released rather than fire him since he could easily counter with a lawsuit about his actions not being in the country of the original contract.
Like Moz said, it’s bullshit and still gross but it saves Sinclair from potential legal action.
Depends on his contract. Most employees are at-will employees and can be fired for any reason or no reason at all (as long as it’s not discriminatory).
It does but the discriminatory thing might be key. You could very easily make a case with that that he’s being fired for doing something that, ethically, was something that was perfectly legal in his home country. And probably why as mentioned it’ll be a “mutual decision” rather than an outright firing if anything.

Discriminatory means based on a protected category like race, gender, religion, disability, etc. Don’t think any of those would apply here.
I think the only thing saving Marty at the moment is that he has the fall back that he can viably say it was a drunken mistake. It's not a good excuse, but it is an excuse nonetheless. A (seemingly) one off spur of the moment lapse in judgment is easier to forgive than the months of grooming and predatory behaviour that we've seen from others.
That's true; it'd be a different story if multiple women were coming out with different stories, but for now he can lean on "one time thing, didn't think of how it'd be wrong, I'm sorry", despite the act still being weird as hell.
Still, yeah, I'm having a hard time envisioning how he'd be reacted to as an on-air talent right now, and it would not shock me if there's a "mutually parting ways" tweet in the future.

Wouldn't you know we're riding...on the Marrakesh Express?

Eh, probably not. But they’d still rather not have a situation where it leads to something down the road.
It's only tangentially related but no one brings up actor Rob Lowe sleeping with a teenager and he videotaped that shit.
Granted it's a different world than it was in the late 80s.
He's always denied knowing that she was underage (and it isn't clear he knew like Marty) and it definitely put a pause on his career for 5 or so years.
In probable related news, Hangman Page deleted his Twitter.
He's close to Marty, so this coming out about him might have hit him hard, maybe he just deactivated to get off socials for awhile. I am hoping it's nothing serious, but nothing has surfaced and I hope nothing does.

nothing official has been put out, but it looks like Marty is gone from ROH. they've update the roster page on their website, and while Bully Ray and Jeff Cobb have been moved from "Active" to the "Alumni" section, Marty's profile has been outright deleted. furthermore all Marty Scurll and Villain Enterprises merch has been pulled from their online store

If he is indeed gone, that whole experiment was just a disaster for ROH. They pay Marty huge money to stay with them and take charge of the booking, when he's never done that before, they get criticized pretty hard for it. I don't really recall his run of shows being all that well received. You go into shut down, then all these stories come out and his big defense is "Well she was technically legal."

I remember people saying ROH was looking better since Scurll got the booker position but of course nothing would save them of what he did.
And money wasnt just because of the booking position but he was their biggest draw and a bridge to AEW

All that also went to shit.
Yea, it was a gamble worth taking
He was the biggest free agent on the market but he did not need his friends in AEW to be over. Giving him the book and allowing his connections to help ROH was all around a good move
Then he got outed as a creep and it all went to shit. The investment before all this was smart but they have to cut their losses once this shit came to light
Yeah, good thing he never went to AEW or took the title off Aldis in nwa
Yeah, AEW dodged a bullet twice. Tony Kahn didn't like the penis druids so Joey Ryan missed out and ROH's big contract to Scrull kept him from joining AEW.
