As awful as this sounds, this may be the least surprising news out of this whole awful thing. Joey Janela jumping in to make sure he's still an insufferable prick is also not surprising.

There are some things in there that don't stun me at all. Quack is in his 40s right? This is a problem in today's society, at least in America anyway as I'm 39..in the sense of my generation openly thinking calling people retards and making gay jokes is perfectly acceptable. Many people I grew up with, went to school with and work with today that are in my age range do those things without even thinking about it. Like saying retard is the same as saying wow that wasn't smart man.
So neither of those stories stun me at all because I see those things consistently.

Hallowicked tweeted he has left Chikara and The Wrestle Factory Did Wicked work anywhere else? he was pretty much always CHIKARA's best kept secret because he never seemed to want to wrestle anywhere else.

Hallowicked works local independents in the northeast. I think he was the champion of Synergy Pro Wrestling which runs in Central NJ. Him leaving is really big because you'd think he'd be one of the guys who are ride or die...and would know everything that went on behind the scenes.
We are going to start hearing a lot of stories about Quack and its not going to be pretty

A few have tweeted they are done with Chikara including Jakob, and Dasher holllly shit, them and Hallowicked is crazy. Wasn't Jakob supposed to be running the second Wrestlefactory? I can't tell if these are guilty leavings or if they're actually surprised. What this whole thing shows to me is how it's not enough to Do The Right Things and for individuals to all (mostly) know where the hard lines are and not cross them. If you're starting from a mindset where the newbies "pay their dues" and there's a unique, special Wrestling Culture where the rules are different, you're going to foster exploitation, and when people get used to exploitation being background noise, things turn very bad.

Remember that most of these people had only wrestled with Chikara even when they had the talent to work other places. Its like a cult in that way

(it's like 40 minutes away from me, so I always took notice of it)

Lucas Calhoun, Green Ant, Frightmare, Frey Nassar, Joshua Wells, and Xavier Faraday have also left the company. Kate Nyx also announced that she and Ophidian left the company, but that was back in January with no connections to the allegations.
Wrap it up folks. We're done here.
EDIT: Hermit Crab as well. Jim Sterling, who has been active on the scene for a few years now, revealed he was gonna do work for them soon but has since pulled out.

Like saying retard is the same as saying wow that wasn't smart man. So neither of those stories stun me at all because I see those things consistently. The thing about that is, though, I don't disagree at all that, for people born in the 80s and 90s, there are things that were said commonly with no ulterior motive that later became offensive. I cringe when I think back to a lot of the things that I said when I was in high school, and I am often thankful that social media just barely predated my teenage years, because I couldn't imagine some of the stuff I would have put on there when I was young and ignorant. But, that doesn't necessarily accuse the kind of stuff you're talking about. Yes, in 1997, people used "gay" to mean everything from inconvenient to stupid, and people used "retard" just to mean foolish. But, those kind of terms have become so widely and universally considered offensive at this point that, if you continue to use them, you're pretty much intentionally flouting other people's feelings. I don't think saying it "without thinking about it," is an excuse when you're saying stuff like that as an adult in the 2010s. There's just no way that you don't know that those words have negative connotations now. I am very hesitant to judge somebody for things that they said years ago as long as it appears that they've learned and grown from it (i.e. the Sammy Guevara situation), but when people continue to do offensive things simply because "they weren't offensive when I was younger," it's really, really hard to sympathize with that.

Not to be political but there is a huge section of people that still use those words because people that have a problem with them are "snowflakes" I work with people that talk like that because "I'm not changing how I talk because of some overly sensitive crap" I'm not joking about this either. The language war among other things are issues that run very deep in society in these times.

At this point, if you're still saying those kinds of things you know what you're doing and why you're doing it.

I'm pretty bummed about this. I haven't been a Chikara fan for the longest time but the shutdown angle got me interested in it. I cancelled my subscription to Chikaratopia this morning. I've written and deleted a few comments on this now over the last few minutes and don't feel right saying anything so I'm just going to leave it at that.

I believe it is safe to say that this is the Death of Chikara.
With all the storylines in the past 10 years of evil forces invading the company trying to kill it, it's the company itself that led to its downfall. The creepy, heartless men at the top.
