Did he decline WrestleMania appearances? Right before the 2002 Mania at Skydome, Vince was on "Byte This" and said Bret had been invited to that event, too. Supposedly, he would have been a guest referee, likely for HHH/Jericho. Until 2010, he definitely did. Even in the Hall of Fame class, he had no desire to show up to Wrestlemania the next day, so didn't. I knew about WrestleMania 18 since, like I mentioned, Vince himself confirmed it but never heard a rumor about Bret being at 20. On the subject of the 1997 Papa Shango return, I remember hearing that Paul Bearer's secret about Undertaker was that Undertaker really was a dead man that Shango had brought back to life.

I remember an AOL chat where a fan insisted that Kevin Nash would be called "Stone Cold" in WCW. And then Austin got his new WWF name, so I and other RSPW'ers thought this was their way of nipping their ex-star's new identity in the bud.

The Giant was going to debut in the WWF as "Titan, the corporate giant". I mean, he did debut as a member of the Corporation. But I guess Titan would have been a little too on the nose, even for Vince. I'll go with the old classic - the Ultimate Warrior died and was replaced by the Texas Tornado. That was one that all supposedly smart kids in my school 'knew' was true.

I can't remember the exact magazine but Hulk Hogan and Brutas Beefcake being legit blood brothers from back in the 80s.

If you do a chokeslam 3 times in the same spot in Smackdown vs. Raw (04), you unlock Brock Lesnar. I initially managed to misread this so badly, I thought it was saying that if you did three chokeslams IN REAL LIFE, you'd somehow summon Brock. I had a lot of fun with that mental image. It's true, I am still concussed.

I heard so many "RVD to WWF" rumors back in the day. Obviously, this was before ECW was bought out by WWF.

Bob Holly was going to be repackaged as an Astronaut and he was going to come down to the ring with a real life chimpanzee in an astronaut costume. I still laugh when I think about this. The rumor I remember is that it was going to be Holly and Eugene being managed by a monkey.

I think my favorite were the pop up ads that were on places like NODQ.com and Rajah that had the crazy stories that were obviously false. Every single day there was a banner ad about how Abyss was about to jump to WWE for one reason or another.

I remember hearing back around 1998 that Yokozuna would be coming into WCW so that Hollywood Hogan could get a win back over him.

Every single day there was a banner ad about how Abyss was about to jump to WWE for one reason or another. They actually did offer him a deal, plus a WrestleMania match with Undertaker in his first year Poor guy was too loyal for his own good.

The Giant was going to debut in the WWF as "Titan, the corporate giant". Titan is a far, far better name than Big Show

Anyone remember Blackjack Brown's old column in the Chicago Sun-Times?
Some crazy things I remember from the column (not sure what was rumored elsewhere) :
- Viscera and Mideon were in line for a huge push and would win the tag titles. - Taz was going to WCW. - RAW going to three hours in 1999. - Austin returning as a heel in 2000 to do a Vince feud with the roles reversed. - Konnan and Kidman coming with the rest of the Radicalz. - Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan signed to do a match at Halloween Havoc 1999 in like March of that year. - Ric Flair taking over as booker in 1999. - The WCW Big Bang PPV having like a history of WCW element, so there would be matches like Flair vs Rhodes. - Road Dogg, RVD and D'lo would be a part of the new WCW. - Kurt Angle would be the top face in WWE's WCW. - Jericho to debut in WWE with the name Millennium Man.
