That's kinda been the thing since the 80s only it feels more prevalent now. I mean... Earlier than that... Happy Days was all about 1950's nostalgia in the 70's... Yeah, but reboots specifically gained prominence in the 80s. That was the decade cable came into prominence and a lot of older shows started gaining followings which was what led to the reboot being prevalent.

Also, it should be said, there are a lot of original things coming out like movies and cartoons but, well, they don’t exactly get the same amount of clickbait as “WE’RE REBOOTING YOUR CHILDHOOD BECAUSE WE LACK ORIGINAL IDEAS IF YOU IGNORE THE LAST DECADE OF CHILDREN’S ANIMATION!”

To be fair, it's only the first episode so far that they are pigeonholed into the whole "reboot" thing. The rest of the show seems to be more in line with the original.
I'm 3 episodes in and I think they freakin' nailed it.

The difference is we are now the parents and stuff from the 80s and 90s is aimed at us. He-man, ghostbusters, Animaniacs, All That, Hey Arnold, etc. Nostalgia is a 20 to 30 year cycle. The difference is back then they didn't have the technology we do. All these sources that can capitalize on our nostalgia. The idea that adults can spend big money on high quality toys for adult collectors. Content providers willing to spend money to get us to spend money. Stuff like that. EDIT: Haven't watched all the episodes but I think I noticed slight alterations of the Yakko, Wakko, and Dot. The biggest difference is Dot not emphasizing her cuteness and playing off it as her defining ability. Which given the current climate I get along with dropping the whole "Hello Nurse!" stuff. Wakko while not a mute was a bit more Harpo-esque in the orginal run as in not as talkative as Yakko or Dot. The Animaniacs were akin to the Marx brothers in the first series. Yakko playing Groucho with his wise cracks and Wakko playing more to Harpo. Dot was original in her own way, but all three thumbing their noses at authority like the Marx brothers would. It's more egalitarian with the three in this run.

Yesish? when talking television and stuff yeah... but Hollywood ahs been rebooting/remaking things since pretty much the beginning. I mean "THE WIZARD OF OZ!" was like... the 6th adaptation of the Stories...

Ps you can skip the credits as they don't do a stinger. Felt like there should have been but alas No gag credits either, much to Kathryn Page's likely chagrin

Now I'm only 4 episodes in,but yea it's decent. I just wish they would do like the original series. You know where 75% of the jokes are aimed at kids and the other 25% were aimed at grown ups. This remake, what I have seen so far,is more 50/50.

Okay up to episode 8, and I am just going to say it, that Pinky and the Brain episode sucked. Totally went against the character of the Brain. He is always suppose to be some what sympathetic, suppose to root for him, while he wants to rule the world, he is a good person, but this episode, he crossed the line to villain territory. The writer of this episode just pissed on the Pinky and the Brain bible.

For Season 2 they gotta bring back Slappy for sure, Good/Bad idea Skits could work in this decade.
Episode 8 seemed to be a mixed bag but It can be fixable once we move on to Season 2, Julia should definitely return though

We need "Pip" to return as well, this time he can talk about how he met Drew Carey.

But it's not like it's for mature audiences only, just the age bracket has changed. Although Brain does drop a "hell" in the third episode which completely caught me off guard.

It aint bad but I prefered the older show that was mostly aimed at kids. While including jokes for the adults that were watching.

Had to pause episode 7 to come in and say that the "punch line" joke was f***ing stupid and I loved it.

Binged it all yesterday and all in all it was pretty good.
Big ups to Rob, Jess, Tress and Maurice, even after all these years they were just able to get right back into their iconic characters without missing a beat. The writing was very solid and consistent for the most part. Sure not every joke and segment was a winner, but the ones that did land landed pretty well and took me back to those magical days of 1994 when everything was right with the world. And I was hard pressed to find anything I absolutely hated or "maybe they shouldn't have gone there." so that's a plus.
The only real complaint was the lack of variety in segments in most episodes. Yeah the Warner's and Pinky and The Brain are the faces of the franchise, but a big part of the fun of the original series came from the variety show "something for everyone" approach they took. (If you don't like the Goodfeather's, you may like Slappy etc...)
To be fair they did try out some new (I guess you could call them pilot) segments and they were solid but unspectacular. The little girl and the tiny alien was all right, but predictable and the inner angry garden gnome took sketch took me awhile to get into, but I came around at the end. (And John DiMaggio is always a win.) Oh and the eyeball in the dark sketch was pretty good too. (Plus it's always great to hear Maurice do his Vincent Price.) So pretty okay work all round, and if they want to bring any of them back for season 2 (Or technically it would be season 6) I'm not really going to complain about it.
Fine start to the reboot and hopefully things will only continue to get ever better from here.

Episode 6 was removed and re-added, removing the hotline (due to it being a porn number) and address from the first airing
