We now know for sure that JR hasnt lost his passion, its more like he is Cornette lite when it comes to stuff he doesnt like.

Cody said on one of AEW's YouTube videos last year that he wanted Jim Ross in AEW because "He's f***ing Jim Ross!"
The problem with that is even though he still has good moments, he's not 90's/Attitude Era JR anymore, and his commentary on the women's matches (like when the joshis are competing) is rather uncomfortable.

And Jim Ross said: "The day that I embarrass myself, that I can’t keep up or articulate what we’re seeing, when I can’t process the stories talents are telling, [I’ll quit]."

Will say that after All Out JR has been more tolerable though.

For someone who says the opinions are meaningless and don't piss him off (until the next paragraph), he sure does cuss a lot.

I mean isn't that like going to the manager to make a complaint? Sounds like that's what people should be doing.
Also Jim you deserve calling out, I'm still squicked out by your Anna Jay remark at All Out.

It's a massive leap to assume we know how much Tony is reading twitter during shows and that the people saying he sucks are looking to get him crucified live but sure, grandpa.

As someone who's gotten more than a few complaints over the course of the jobs I've had, I can understand where he's coming from. Someone takes umbrage at something and decides to go to a higher up, it is difficult not to feel like "you want me to lose my livelihood because you're bothered by something that is ultimately inconsequential?"
But then, if you're choosing to work in entertainment, you are openly inviting criticism of your work and you have to know it's going to be there no matter how good you may be.
Better develop a thicker skin.

I'm not watching the show during the global pandemic so maybe my opinion is irrelevant.
But.
I don't care about JR's commentary one way or the other, I just wish he'd stop liking and retweeting images from an account called WWE Porn.

To me, people tagging Tony on Twitter when they're complaining about someone in particular feels like a six-year old telling teacher...
*Ralph Wiggum voice* "Mr. Khaaaan! J.R. said a baaaaad word!"

Criticize his commentary all you want, sure, but he's 100% right about any kind of lost passion type comments. That's bullshit, it's fans assuming things they can't possibly know because they don't like his work. I'd be heated about that too.

Lmfao, I love the ongoing Grumpy Old JR Vs Young people feud. As someone who's gotten more than a few complaints over the course of the jobs I've had, I can understand where he's coming from. Better develop a thicker skin.Yeah, and that’s the thing, I think JR knows deep down he’s obviously lost a step and isn’t the same he was, but be it ego or what, refuses to acknowledge it. In fact, it might be the vitriol coming from the harshest of fans that makes him double down harder. Those relationships are a’plenty these days. I love JR. I do think sooner than later he needs to accept at least being the older voice at the booth. Or take a more suitable role in the company.

That's bullshit, it's fans assuming things they can't possibly know because they don't like his work. I'd be heated about that too. It would've been a true comment if they were talking about his New Japan commentary. Outside a handful of matches, every match he called there he sounded bored out of his mind. And I know it wasn't a "McMahon in his ear"-type situation because none of the other English commentators I've heard call NJPW matches sounded anywhere near as dispassionate as that.
That said, outside of a few bad nights, JR's been pretty good in AEW. I'd say his biggest failings in AEW aren't a lack of passion or being unable to follow or articulate the action. He's still pretty good at that. Rather, it's finding himself in Old Man Yells At Cloud situations, along with some less-than-PC comments about the women, especially the joshi when they were more of a feature.
At least AEW Jim Ross is leagues ahead of NJPW Jim Ross, though.

JR in New Japan clearly didn't want to be there, and one thing I'll give him is that he wants to be in AEW. Downside is, he wants to be in AEW.

Do we know the actual tweet(s) he's referring to? Because there's a big difference between "He sounds like he's lost his passion" and "He's lost his passion." I dunno.. Definitive statements about unquantifiable stuff like a person's passion just really irk me. Maybe it's me.

Good Lord JR, STOP!!!!
The facade on this man has worn off over the years and he has a reason to be bitter over the last few years but that man has always been a kiss ass
You should been suspended for some of the shit you have said in AEW, JR. You have been given a job due to your name and legacy and you should be thankful for that. I feel like Khan tends to talk and be too involved like he's a fan instead of the big man in charge but he has every right to read and respond to criticism to you and hopefully he directs that shit to your face
