People assuming you've lost your passion for a job you've devoted most of your life to has definitely gotta' sting; people assuming that and snitch-tagging your boss on Twitter to get you fired is a total chickenshit move. Not denying that JR has absolutely lost a step or two compared to his glory days but he doesn't strike me as being curmudgeonly or Cornette-ish, or that he's phoning it in. He's just not as good as he used to be, and even then that mainly manifests itself in him forgetting people's names (which he was doing 15 years ago) and being horny on main (which is gross but not unforgivable).

You've sat by making money in a business without a union, watching men die in their 30's and 40's by the dozens. You can take some mean comments online.

I said this on the 'topics that don't warrant their own thread' thread but I'll say it again here.
Could JR stop with the damn college football references? It's so shoehorned and stupid. His closing line to the audience this past Dynamite was 'Beat Texas'...Imagine if he'd closed a Raw back in the day by giving a shoutout to the Oklahoma Sooners. Vince would've had a canary and JR would've spent the next month on Velocity.

While I get it straight up is someone trying to make you lose your job.
That is the point of Tony reading tweets,he reads feedbacks, people think you suck, people will try to tell Tony they think you suck

The snitch-tagging is lame, no doubt. On the other hand, I don't think Tony Khan is going to fire someone because people on Twitter thinks he sucks. Otherwise, Mel would've been gone months ago.

Once again, wrestling company personnel are human beings, people on twitter and other platforms need to remember that.

'I, a wrestling announcer, dislike that my boss, a wrestling promoter, is getting live, in-the-moment feedback about something from the audience. I thought our industry was about more than that.'

I’d say this defines my thoughts better. Like, yeah, it’s a weird ass thing to do and you’re better off just putting it under a hashtag or something but it’s also not like they’re going to just only listen to the feedback. It has to be weighed with what can be done in a business sense or if it makes sense to the locker room or whatnot. Using your Mel example, like yeah, Mel isn’t very good. But she might be a friendly person in the locker room and help others out so if you just get rid of her, you risk losing morale of the locker room or whatnot.

I guess that I don’t get JR’s outrage here. It comes across like an old guy complaining about technology, especially the part where he says that Tony’s on the damn thing all during the show or whatever it was. I mean if fans are allowed in and dude showed up with a sign that read “JR hasn’t been good since 2001 and he says creepy things during the ladies matches” and held it up front and center would JR complain that Tony was going to see it? Sounds more like JR knows that he’s coasting on a 20+ year reputation and doesn’t want the boss to realize that he kind of sucks these days.

Once again, wrestling company personnel are human beings, people on twitter and other platforms need to remember that. People on Twitter & other platforms: The more people talk about it, I genuinely see validity in both sides. It’s a bad look for both the people on Twitter (as usual) doing it as well as JR getting in his feelings about it.

To me, people tagging Tony on Twitter when they're complaining about someone in particular feels like a six-year old telling teacher... *Ralph Wiggum voice* "Mr. Khaaaan! J.R. said a baaaaad word!" "MISS FINSTER, MISS FINSTER!! JR SUCKS!!" "Sucks you say? BRING HIM TO ME!"

Also, for the record, I see nothing wrong with tagging Tony Khan. I mean, the fact that he DOES read tweets and respond to criticism says a lot. Yeah, it sucks if you're the person they're complaining about, since you know the boss will see it. But bitching about it on his podcast makes him look foolish. Take the criticism in stride and try to improve. Like a lot of people, my main issue is the uncomfortable comments towards the female talent. Realize that this ISN'T the Attitude Era and that you're not Jerry Lawler and call the women's matches like you would a men's match. That would help.

Once again, wrestling company personnel are human beings, people on twitter and other platforms need to remember that. I agree and I'd love to see how these same people address concerns at their workplace. Do they automatically skip over their boss and their bosses boss and go right to the owner/president/ceo? Do they just go right to social media? Especially when people misspoke. How long has Bruce prichard been in the business? Is he going to remember every detail correctly? Do these same individual remember everything theybhave learned and speak correctly 100% of the time? It tough to follow wrestling on the internet these days. Anything else I watch I don't go out of my way to spend time reading up about it and I enjoy it so much more. Not looking for a response or derail the thread, but it's just a sad reminder of how I think the internet has changed the world we live in, and in this case with social media, for the worse.

Mels contract expires at the end of the year iirc, so why fire her and force to pay her the remaining of her contract when you can just let her contract expire

This sounds like the definition of not being able to take the heat. I don't think JR can dictate whether people think he sounds like he has passion or not. Even if he feel it, how you feel and how you speak don't always correlate. And even if you disagree, you can't bitch at the fans openly, it's ironically more likely to catch Tony's attention on negativity surrounding JR.

People tagging people in replies to tweets they’re not tagged in in general can f*** off and do one.
That said Jim Ross in 2020 f***ing sucks.

I'm not watching the show during the global pandemic so maybe my opinion is irrelevant. But. I don't care about JR's commentary one way or the other, I just wish he'd stop liking and retweeting images from an account called WWE Porn. Liking is one thing.... but retweeting??? Ugh...... it's getting harder and harder to defend JR.

Exactly! Do whatever you want to, but thinking that Tony Khan is going to first someone based on their complaint Tweets is silly. It's one thing if JR actually starts crossing the line with regularly or starts breaking the law..... but he's don't nothing to warrant firing. It's just another example of regular Joe's thinking they have power on Social Media.

Obligatory "calling Jim Ross out on his bullshit" quote:
Go f*** yourself Jim. You can't have it both ways, and I don't care if this was before you were with AEW. You've demonstrated your inability to take criticism in the past multiple times (even to the point of mocking fans because they called you out on your shit for mispronouncing Marty Scurll's name on mainstream TV). Maybe get off of social media for a while like the EVPs of the company you work for for a while or maybe...just maybe...take the criticism to heart and work on that shit BEFORE it gets escalated to management?
