I remember loathing Buster and his golden boy chosen-one smugness. I far preferred Plucky, whose smugness was at least funny. I for some reason don't see this changing.
Think I noticed a Marvin the Martian character, and Sam/Ralph analogues. I definitely approve of this.

This was mostly a carry over from the Chuck Jones version of the characters, which I hated as a kid. I hated seeing Daffy as the definitive loser all the time. Bugs on the other hand lost all of his edge, and while Jones would put Bugs in endless different scenarios with different antagonists, they almost always had Bugs in the exact same mold. Despite overall being my favorite LT director, he without a doubt was my least favorite when it came to Bugs or Daffy. Give me Avery, Clampett, Freleng, McKimson, Tashlin.or even Art Davis over almost all of Jones' outings. Think I noticed a Marvin the Martian character, and Sam/Ralph analogues. I definitely approve of this. I think who you're referring to is Marcia the Martian who was a Tiny Toons character. Not sure if I remember a child Sam or Ralph version though. |
