So, that whole scandal going around with sexual abuse allegations towards the Blackhawks is certainly ugly.... Also impacts Bergevin in Montreal...who just used his first round pick to select a player who begged out of the draft this year because he's been credibly accused of sexual assault. All this after he looked into bringing Deangelo in, good times, good times. On a lighter note, watching the Hughes brothers react to Luke getting drafted to the Devils was wholesome as hell, and Jack looked like an excited puppy wagging its tail. Too bad Fitzgerald kind of botched the announcement, but I think(?) he might have a stammer, which would explain that. Ok Quinn, you know what to do: demand the 'Nucks ship you over to Jersey for a so-so return and let us have the whole set of brothers.

Marc Bergevin basically just nuked all the goodwill the Canadiens might've had with their miracle playoff run by drafting Logan Mailleux.

I'd bet my bottom dollar that another kid in the first round alone has done something just as bad if not worse. Not excusing it because it's a criminal offense that only an asshole would do, but these kids aren't ideal citizens behind the scenes. For those that don't know, I would compare junior hockey to pro wrestling in the 80's/90's, they put on a good front for the public but a TON of scumbag shit goes on. I feel really bad for the girl. I'm sure she's having a hard time dealing with it.

Some of the guys on a team I played with should still be in jail.

I'm already making a prediction for next season.
Arizona will tank like no team has before to try to get Shane Wright.
The 2022 draft could be the deepest in history (2023 will be AWESOME too). Even if they just get a top 5 pick they will be getting a slam dunk franchise player with how elite it is.
They already have 5(!!) 2nd round picks for taking on bad contracts. Phil Kessel, Darcy Kuemper, and Anton Stralman will be free agents so they'll be gone. I think they'll try to deal Shayne Gostisbehere too and strip their team to as bare bones as possible. I'm guessing they'll take as many bad contracts, whether it's expiring ones or from teams that are up against the cap, as they can with a draft pick attached to it.

The Martin Jones era in San Jose is done as the team plans to buy him out.

Gabriel Landeskog is staying with the Avs, 8 yrs, $7 million per season, running a total value of $56 million. This is honestly cheaper than I thought he was going to be. Today should be interesting to see what teams do now that he is off the market. The Blues are in a tough spot. Since they wanted him badly because of the whole Tarasenko saga who now many gain more interest with Landeskog off the table but still depends of a team wants to task the risk. They wanted to make upgrades on offense. Hard to pull that off now. With most of the guys resigning.

I wouldn't mind retaining on his contract if it means he returns an actual asset(s). Retaining 3 mil on him for 2 years doesn't hurt our cap situation too bad. We then could be in on Saad, but I really don't want him. Schwartz is gone, but adding Buch is an upgrade.

I wouldn't be surprised that we have Valdi this year, if he wants to leave cool, prove yourself that you deserve the 7.5 Million. No team is really biting on him because they see a guy who missed a bunch of the last two years and 4 goals last year. Not impressive numbers to say lets get him. He has to show he still the guy we saw before that can score 30 goals. I also see Doug looking for a trade still and it could be not until the trade deadline or next year.
