They’re probably in a damned if they do, damned if they don’t situation, but they probably released footage too early. I think if the first footage we saw was this year with a 2023 release date, folks would be more understanding. On the one hand, you want to give people an idea of what to expect. On the other hand, it was clearly very early in development. And then you had not just the realities of game development with a fairly inexperienced publisher, but a global pandemic changing things fundamentally. Scores of games had significant delays all across the world.
The only upside is that Yuke's is a talented, experienced developer so it could've been an even worse delay (if not outright cancellation). But shit happens. COVID causing a delay was all-but-inevitable.

I don't know how the deals for their contracts are structured, are we sure Cody WON'T be in the game?
WWE games used to get released with guys who were long gone by the time it shelves
If I'm AEW I'd include Cody & have a special "Codyverse" Campaign mode and try to make it more ridiculous than those Raw Versus Smackdown games from the mid 00s

I still hope they do away with Overall Ratings. I know its a reflection of the product but for a fighting game I still.think its a stupid choice.
Especially since wrestling is character driven.

I love story modes in wrestling games. The game will probably start out with exhibition mode, story mode, online and character creation then add more modes over the years. We know it won't be annually released and I can't see them overloading the game straight away. |

I don't think it'll make the deadline, but having ROH be an arena or a separate roster for GM mode would be awesome.
Even for DLC.
