but even that way they could have also handled it a lot better than showing up for one mission and vanishing like they did on original release. For sure, but I think EA gutting months from the development schedule had something to do with that. Seriously, looking at all the cut content really makes you wonder what could have been. For example, the final mission was cut to the bone. Things we could have had included: - A space combat strategy section where Shepard commanded the combined fleets to open a gap in the reaper defences and allow the Normandy to reach London. - Sub-missions where you are joined by Kirrahe and the STG, Grunt, Samara and other Justicars, Jondum Bau and the Spectres who committed to helping, Zaeed and his mercenary pals, a geth platoon, quarian marines, asari commandos, Miranda and an ex-Cerberus hit squad, and Jack and her students, each with different mission objectives (sabotaging reaper defences, evacuating civilians, attacking and defensive battles, etc.). - The Normandy clearing the path towards the Crucible. - The potential for your war asset score to drop as they are killed/destroyed based on your orders, leaving the potential for worse endings.

I don't know if I could commit to that I've tried a couple of times to do a worst case scenario playthrough, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I remember my first playthrough of me2 Mordin died at the collector base. It proper bummed me out and I don't think I can force myself to do it!

As someone who has done a worst case scenario run (in my head I think of it more as a Greek tragedy) it makes ME3 real boring you get Vega, Liara, Javik, EDI, and your choice of Ash or Kaiden for 1 mission. It makes the citadel dlc just a terrible time, very sad party and not in a sad reflecting way remembering those lost but sad like none of the cool kids came. Final mission same problem. I'd honestly wouldn't recommend doing it unless you just really wanna see how many names can end up on the Normandy memorial wall.
Edit: I will say doing the collector base in 2 and having everyone die is the highlight of the run because depending on how you're RPing either your gross incompetence is killing everyone or no matter what choice you make it back fires horribly and both make the assault more stressful and personal

I'd imagine Thane, Mordin are the easiest to have survive and then kill in that scenario. Samara, Tali, Legion probably aren't too far down the list of ease either

But yeah citadel would be a massive bummer. Which is the point I guess.

Romancing Thane being there with him and his son in his final days then seeing him get taken down by Kai Lang. And Tali watching her commit suicide after shep gives the ok for the Geth to genocide the quarrians. Big sads all-around. For certain characters I had them live so they could die in 3, gave Legion to Martin Sheen, let Cerberus abduct Jack, had Miranda die at Cerberus hands, and Morinith turn into a banshee.

I could never kill Garrus. He's my best buddy or my lover depending on choices I've made. Either way, there's no Shepard without Vakarian.

I simply can't let any of my squad die. Still having a hard enough time getting past having the party, so much so I've actually started Andromeda to put it off.

To this day, I still don’t like Garrus and pretty much never use him.
For me, it’s always been
Me: Ashley/Wrex ME2: Jack/Samara/Mordin/Zaeed ME3: Ashley/Vega

Given how badly the GTA 3+ re-release went, Bioware actually killed it.
