Finished Mass Effect 2
Man that suicide run mission really is one of the all time great gaming missions
And unlike the first time I played the game years ago, I managed to keep everyone alive this time. Last time Zaeed died on me

I am really enjoying ME3, not looking forward to the ending as it's absolute ass but up until Priority Earth it's all good.

This came out on Game Pass, currently playing through ME1 for the first time ever. Wow, really, really enjoying it so far. The combat is average as f***, but I’m 100% invested in the story. Absolutely gonna play through the whole trilogy

I’ve started ME:3
For all the flack the ending gets for the choose one of three colour options, there’s a lot of correcting of users choices
Like I picked Anderson to be on the council at the end of ME1 (because f*** you Udina) and now Udina is on the council instead seemingly with no explanation

So he goes back to earth to try and get the Alliance as ready as possible for the reapers.

I know I felt a bit jipped when I started the game the first time and Anderson was on Earth and Udina not.

You big stupid jellyfish
What a line. I’m going to start using that in my day to day life until I get punched for it

I am really enjoying ME3, not looking forward to the ending as it's absolute ass but up until Priority Earth it's all good. I think with the addition of all the DLC it feels a little better... it's still not great... but stuff like Leviathan does add some more explanation to what's going on. . I’ve started ME:3 For all the flack the ending gets for the choose one of three colour options, there’s a lot of correcting of users choices Like I picked Anderson to be on the council at the end of ME1 (because f*** you Udina) and now Udina is on the council instead seemingly with no explanation Yeah, ME3 has a lot of things like that which made it feel like a lot of your choices ultimately didn't matter. (Outside of the usual illusion of choice the games were built on but...shh >_>) with all the DLCs I do think there are some that does lessen it.

You big stupid jellyfish What a line. I’m going to start using that in my day to day life until I get punched for it It's a great callback to ME1 with the hanar preaching on the Presidium. Shepard's renegade-leaning dialogue choice to the C-Sec officer trying to get them to move along is "Because it's a big, stupid jellyfish!"

I briefly tried playing through as a dude, and wow male Shepard is just much less interesting than female Shepard. A lot of it is the acting, but it's also that dude Shepard is boxed into Army Soldier Man character type and so just can't be as dynamic. Kinda baffling they slapped his face on the box art.
I also made the mistake of romancing Kelly, because hey neat, the first no-bullshit lgbtq romance option in the trilogy! Then I learned she was internally referred to by the game designers as "Ensign Threeway." Then I realized the people who made the Citadel DLC just... um... forgot she existed? So I cheated on Kelly and quickly pivoted to Traynor, who ended up being completely amazing, so all's well that ends well, I guess.

Female Shepard didn't even have artwork or the in-game assets of her "canon" face until ME3. Though it was neat of Legendary Edition to put it in ME1 and 2.
Mark Meer has his moments as ManShep's voice, especially with the renegade dialogue options. But I generally prefer Jennifer Hale's FemShep.

Eh... I preferred my male shep play through.
But Hale still did a great job.. I mean... it's Jennifer Hale >_>
It was always weird there was no "Default" Fem-shep until 3... which I think they voted on?
especially since there was always a loud vocal minority on the internet that was pro-femshep >_>

The only reason I've ever had to play as MShep is for the romances, and that's just because Bioware were too cowardly to make Jack and Tali romantic options, despite the fact that they had the lines recorded for Tali and Jack's literally pansexual and mentions past dalliances with women.

I think FemShep has the better performance, though I don't think Meer was bad by any stretch of the imagination, but in general I don't find any of her love interests particularly compelling. That's always been my take but I know there are many who kice the Garrus romance. Just not for me. The Garrus romance is perfectly fine, but the bro-friendship you eventually develop with him if you stay platonic is much more fun and interesting. The one I see people most excited about is Thane, which IS pretty good, but then a lot of these people were apparently extremely surprised and betrayed about the fact that the guy they knew was dying ends up dying. Liara's a bore, James is a meathead bore, I usually end up forgetting the fact that Jacob's even romanceable. Kaidan is Kaidan (though I hear a gay romance with male Shepard in 3 has some more interesting nuances). Kelly isn't even supposed to count. I can see some people potentially being annoyed by Traynor's flibbertigibbetness, but she's way better than anyone else on the table.

What made the Garrus romance for me was the Citadel DLC. Without it, I'd prefer Liara.

Jacob has to be one of the worst companions in the game... besides cheating on fem-shep after 6 months and attempting no contact... literally everything he tells you to do is wrong.

Jacob has to be one of the worst companions in the game... besides cheating on fem-shep after 6 months and attempting no contact... literally everything he tells you to do is wrong. There's the premise of a good character in Jacob, but it's squandered at every opportunity. Personally, I think the progression of his and Miranda's stories should have been mirror opposites. At the start if ME2 Miranda is the true believer in Cerberus and Jacob is somewhat on the fence. By the end of the game I feel that while Miranda loses her faith and quits, Jacob becomes more dedicated to the cause and in ME3 he is The Illusive Man's right hand instead of Kai Leng.
