Really great numbers the entire night. Happy to see the main event featuring two guys who a general audience didn’t really know about last year do so well and bring the viewership back up from the previous segments.

They got a good boost for the Sting segment and held onto it for the next three segments as well (and didn't drop too bad after those). That's real good news.

More thab any single segment, the ratings were stable and solid through the whoke night.
That means people are invested in the show, which is great

The irony is that Bryan Alvarez thought the show was crash tv and said that booking style wasn't sustainable... which Crash TV isn't but I didn't view Dynamite as Crash TV

I think it is interesting how even with a much better division ,with more focus of the women,The female demo isnt that strong for then. This is strictly from my personal experience, and I am not saying that it is indicative of everyone, but my girlfriend (27 years old, never watched wrestling before moving in with me) has absolutely zero interest in women’s wrestling. Usually she is working while I watch but the people who catch her attention are Orange Cassidy, MJF, Jurassic Express, and Kenny the last two weeks. The idea that women only want to watch women is beyond wrong. Which I know you’re not saying, but obviously people believe it. What should AEW focus on more: putting more women on screen or drawing more women viewers? Yeah, I was married to a woman for a long time who was a former Monday Night Wars era fan, but didn't watch the current product much. She absolutely hated women's wrestling and thought it was ridiculous. She would say that they yell too much during their matches and stuff. She also said it was obvious that no matter how hard they try, the women's title will never seem as important as the World title. Also, she was about the straightest woman on the planet and half the appeal of wrestling was big sexy muscular men. I disagree personally. I like women's wrestling about the same as men's. It's like singers or actors, I just like who's talented.

More thab any single segment, the ratings were stable and solid through the whoke night. That means people are invested in the show, which is great Agreed; there's some rising and dipping here and there, but nothing extreme, showing a mostly stable audience that sticks around in strong numbers across the broadcast. That's a very good thing to have. And yeah, I think some of the "Crash TV" takes are a little hot right now; I kind of get it, stuff like the ending to the main event felt a bit like it could've been out of the late 90s, and having Sting and Shaq show up is one of those "wait, WHO?!" kind of moments that works as an attention grabber, but it seems like people are then sticking with the show thanks to the good (and in some cases lengthy) matches and other straightforward wrestling storytelling. So no, you won't have big celebrities/legends every week, and you don't want to overdo endings like what they did with MFJ/Orange, but there wasn't much else on the show that felt unsustainable.

Mostly just because it is generally not as believable. I'm not saying they are any less capable than the men, but it usually looks pretty low impact. Theres probably some Joshi stuff out there that is better, but idk. I also dont particularly enjoy womens MMA fighting either, but that has more to do with the fact that even female on female, I dont like seeing them get hurt.

I think the crash TV style made sense the past two weeks which Alvarez acknowledged. I think next week will be a relative cool down in terms of pacing. I suspect this was done both because they knew they'd have a bigger audience and they have a lot of important shows coming up that they want to set up for. They'll have a massive lead in for their 12/23 show and then they'll have two TV specials the next two weeks. With how they've booked, they have a lot of stories that can fill up those three weeks.

Same here. He looked good. I liked his version of the stinger splash for lack of a better word for the move. The way he took big steps and came at an angle, it was different. And I’m pulling for Pillman Jr to make it, I’m kind of a massive Brian Pillman mark.

It's been a viewpoint of his for a loooooong time. Did Sting say The Tokyo Dome sucks or something? WCW was catastrophically, epically, historically bad at live events promotions so Sting's ability to draw was always filtered through the lens of the territory he worked as champion being a massive lodestone on his shoulders. He isn't helped by his biggest storyline (vs. the nWo) was basically predicated around him not working matches as he stalked the nWo apart from the company that spurned him.

I disagree that Sting isn't a draw, but he has very often be in a position to fail, frankly, so Meltzer isn't just pulling this out of his ass.
