It’s this what humanity has come down to?!. Grown adults on social media throwing a rage fit over The Little Mermaid?! LOL! this is like, really really pathetic. It’s a kids movie. All the kids, the target demographic, who are going to go see it won’t give a shit what Ariel looks like lol!. Besides, the characters main attributes was her singing voice, I have no doubt they picked the right actress for the role. People need to f***ing grow up Yet not a soul cares that Scuttle is a female now. Poor Scuttle…no one cares about you.

I love also how that move from James didn't actually affect him at all and his channel and series grew and grew. Yeah it also helps James is a pretty cool and shy dude who doesn't feel the need to put himself out there on social media. And hasn't been outted like Channel Awesome was. The only controversies that follow James are the movie he made and the Irate Gamer rivalry, none of which are big deals and feel part of a bygone internet rage era.

Not being there from the beginning, how did 2016 hate begin? With it just being a bad remake, or being all female? The "we hate everything progressive" YouTube/Twitter/Reddit brigades definitely fanned a lot of it right from the announcement that there would be an all-female reboot, though longtime fans were also pissed they weren't getting the long-requested Ghostbusters III. Things didn't reach a fever pitch until the release of the first trailer, which was almost universally hated. After that, Paul Feig began with the "If you don't support this movie you don't support women" rhetoric and things got really heated.

See, Feig could have no-sold that element of the dislike and focused more on this movie being its own thing, not erasing the originals, etc. etc. (well it WAS derivative in some ways, but for argument's sake...) Saying the other thing just added gas to the fire, and fed into the trolls. On that topic, can we repeat that NO ONE IS TAKING AWAY THE ORIGINAL TLM. Original Ariel is NOT being cancelled, or whatever the kids say these days, and Disney will probably keep on selling merch with 1989 Ariel and 2023 Ariel alike. Heck, they'll probably meet in an Into the Mermaidverse movie some day.

BatB had changes for the live action, so did Jungle Book. Same thing here.

Wait until they double down their trolling and make the Princess and the Frog live action. They could troll everyone by making her best friend black…but instead they make Prince Naveen a turtle.

Let me guess. Disney is being accused of being "woke" because Aerial is black.
Considering all the bullshit that is going on in the world right now, This is the least of our problems.

Now it's been years since I watched it,I saw it in a theater back in 86 when it got it's last release, but from what I remember close to half the film is animated. They could probably get away with a SOTS remake if they set the framing sequence in modern times and made Uncle Remus a teacher or something (just retitle it "Mr. Remus"). Heck, you can even have it being the case of a teacher or parent narrating the books and giving some context to the Uncle Remus character, acknowledging why some have issues with it as well as why Harris wrote the way he did.

Seriously, this would get so much props from me, if they have the bulls to kill off Arial at the end, like she is suppose to. I’m not familiar with the original, but I’m prepared for any such story after there was a side quest in DQ11 that dealt with a mermaid/human romance. It was not a happy story.
