It was a pretty great listen. Takers’s mellow, humble and candid throughout. Pretty funny too. The detailing of his injuries throughout the years is perplexing.
As for the crux of what’s getting attention? *shrugs* I will take a million of dudes being lame, playing video games, and being able to live long, healthy fulfilling lives with their families over how plagued all the prior generations of wrestlers have been. Is there a point there that there’s less of an edge? Yes, I absolutely agree. Thing is the indictment should be on Vince..and Taker kind of swindles it onto the roster instead. For obvious reasons.
Still, I was surprised he was essentially shitting on the WWE on a very popular platform.

Well, as a nearly-lifelong Undertaker fan, that's disappointing, but not entirely surprising, either. My parents are from the same generation he is, and even though they're on a different part of the political spectrum than he is, I still have to sometimes correct certain behaviors and ideologies because it's so ingrained in their psyche.
I guess this is just one of those times where you try your best to separate the performer from the person.

So I had to clarify somehow to see what he said (because I’m not listening to a damn Joe Rogan podcast) and...yeah, this sounds pretty bad. I’m not putting it up as a normal Twitter post for a reason, for the record. Creed: Taker, Enzo is getting pretty out of control. I'd like your help as a locker room leader to influence him back onto the right track. Taker: Say no more. *pulls gun out and puts it on the table* Creed:

I've been of the opinion for a while that the Undertaker was a bit of a bellend, and this hasn't changed my mind. He spent half of his career dressing up like a biker to look big and tough, pretending to be an MMA expert when he wasn't, and clearly enjoyed his role as locker room policeman a bit too much, so it's on brand for him to venerate this kind of bullshit hyper masculinity. Twat.

I'm now stuck with the mental image of these "crusty men" showing up on a HD-filmed wrestling show of today and it's worrying.

and how many people Undertaker shared the locker room with in the 80s and 90s never made it to there 50th Birthday?
I'm glad somebody like The Miz who was subjected to a toxic backstage environment, didn't carry on the tradition since it's always been the way or something

His hip was hurting even before Vince first saw him wrestle.
Wow.

The whole "I suffered like this in my day and you should too" mindset is selfish and needs to die.

I don’t think he’d make a good Eggman. They died? It sounds like he’s mourning or eulogizing some dead folks, well he is, after all, an Undertaker so somehow in character?

On all the early deaths and how the grueling environment of days past led to drinking, pills, addictions, early deaths. And speaks on how much better and progressive the industry is today.

Loved Taker in ring but the man is just awful, just a nasty human being but not surprising since he has been up Vinces ass for decades.

It was a good interview, and I don't think what Taker said was necessarily terrible. He was just saying it's different and he misses his time. To me it felt like somebody nostalgic for the early days of his careers, and that things are different now.
He was definitely honest, though, and I hope Vince/HHH take some of it to heart.

Old out of touch wrestler is old and out of touch.
Although just saying, as your local huge Mr Perfect fan, I'd have been totally cool if he'd just been addicted to, say, Nintendo games or something instead of the coke that killed him.

I mean a lot of people play video games and I don’t so I can see what he means from the outsider looking in perspective but playing video games is a lot more healthier than what else the current talent could be doing.

About taking a step back and “trying to put the paste back into the tube” while really not acknowledging Vinces current effect on the product other than the aforementioned criticism. I doubt this will reach Vince’s peripheral but..I’d be curious to see how he’d take it.

“I liked it when Men were Men” Says the guy that wore eyeliner and hung out in front of the Cavs lockerroom with his titties out. 'I liked it when men were men' says the man who as a lockerroom leader oversaw the WWE backstage environment being a circle of hell, with bullying, drug use and flat out assaults on co-workers being the order of the day. He liked sitting there and doing nothing wile his co-workers were bullying someone so badly they were taking bets on whether or not they'd attempt suicide as a result, and didn't give a damn about anything he would need to stick his neck out to address, As long as rookies on a tenth of his wage carried his bags, kissed his ass and paid for his beers, he was happy. He enjoyed being a king. It's telling how much happier everyone became once he and his clique left and how all the 'traditions' he inflicted on rookies faded away.

I remember walking in to my first real dressing room and all I saw were 18 naked cowboys in the showers at Ram Ranch

I think that he’s just nostalgic for a bygone era more than anything. Most every generation claims that men were men in their era, but in reality people are pretty much the same just the times change.

More "Yeah today the guys are smarter and healthier than we were, but I liked it back then" kinda vibe.
