Reboot it. Hard reboot.
Send a terminator to the past or the future in order to do a stealth mission, amongst humans, in order to prevail the timeline.
AI as the boogeyman is old and obsolete.
Make humans the antagonist.

A terminator, not reprogrammed by the resistance but with an accidental computer bug or something, becomes self aware and doesn't want to be a terminator and all that entails. Instead, they travel FORWARD in time to watch the heat death of the universe and contemplate life, or the lack there of, for 90 minutes.

Short run series where Terminators are sent to special interest times in history and the human resistance lead follows them, tries to figure out what's happening and stop the Terminator before they can change history

Terminator vs Robocop, vs Alien, vs Predator WHY NOT ALL FOUR? and have them flit around each others timeline in an all action blastathon, buggering up the timelines and CHANGING EVERYTHING! as usual i picture all four of them crashing thru the ocp tower's window in SLOW MOTION! as for the Tees, i also have suggested putting them into victorian england era, which would throw skynet off as of course, there are zero PCs in queen victoria time gradually turning who are the "good guys" and the "bad guys" in all this! i LOVED genIsys with it's twisting of the timelines, giving it a fresh feel, not seen dark fate yet ...

Terminator 7: Yeah, Sorry About That Last One, Last Two, Er, Last Four Really
In Terminator 7, John Connor (Sebastian Stan) sits down with Terminator James Lipton (Brought back to us by Disney Magic VFX) and talks about the direction of the Terminator films that came after Judgement Day. During this 30 minute intro to the film, Connor apologizes for the stupid, dumb, baby bullshit of the four sequels and says they're all stupid dogshit and everyone who worked on the scrips are also stupid dumb dogshit people. When pressed for more, Connor also says big blue cat alien people are terrible and spends 45 minutes laughing at James Cameron, not with James Cameron.
The end of the film comes when Connor makes a vow that if a Terminator 8 is ever made (it will be), they will do an actual story about John Connor, his family and not whatever pat-on-the-back original characters some hack director pulled out of his shitty ass.

They had a great thing going with The Sarah Connor Chronicles but they cancelled that... Yep, it’s pretty much forgotten and ignored, but it’s easily the best post-T2 Terminator story.

Wait longer on T3 and bring in the Rock as the new Terminator.

Stop making them. Every movie after the first 2 is yet another misguided attempt to "fix" the franchise.

Stop trying to bloody fix it.
But rather Instead of trying to fix it with another shitty and needless reboot, just accept that the franchise has run its course and move on.

The thing I like about the terminator movies is the infiltration part. Be it the Arnie one in 1 slowly getting to Sarah Connor and then no one believe if her and/or the same with the T-1000 in 2.
The more recent films ignoring 3 (which was just lame) ignore this and are more interested in either action, using Arnie or time travel technology. Go back to the infiltration stuff which is far more entertaining

Terminator: The Musical
Don't tell you wouldn't want "singing" Ah-nuld with choreographed Terminator dance numbers.

No Connors, just clean break with the original films and let the films going forward stand or fail on their own. There are so many stories you can tell with time travelling robots and the creation of a world ending AI, rival AIs, human AI cults, it's a big world, it doesn't need to just be one AI attempting to wipe everyone out then sending back Arnie to kill someone related to John Connor. Keep on relying on the first two movies as anything more than a rough outline of the universe and there will be no more movies.

Skynet sends Terminator back in time to kill the mother of its greatest enemy, soldier follows to protect her. Terminator is destroyed but its parts allow Skynet to be created in the first place. Soldier fathers its enemy. Time loop.

Make it about a killer robot driving instructor who travels back in time for some reason. He's got a heartbreaking decision on whether or not his best friend (who's a talking pie) dies.

Just let it die. Hollywood needs to stop re-using repurposing movies
With the exception of 21 Jump Street, have any of these re-makes ever have been better than their source material?

Another crazy idea: a comedy version. Terminator was supposed to do it’s job but somehow developed emotions and falls in love with a human. Too much to the point of creepy that they have to stop it. Other Terminators go back to stop him but every time they try they get smashed by the creepy stalker bot. Basically this:
