The same people talking about “pushing an agenda” is the same ones who never even played the game and if they did how stupid were you when playing it twitter.com/shaylo_ren/status/1631123163818999810 (not embedded due to language) Lots of people expected the show to just be non-stop slaughter of the infected, clearly.

If they really wanna start season 2 with a bang, they'll have THAT scene in the season premiere. The reaction would be incredible/hilarious. The scene where Abby gets porked?

Another crazy ass episode {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} David was just as big a creep as expected and I liked that he had a sense of menace as well
The way he suckered in Ellie letting her know she was never in control was great. Everything they did with his character was on the money
Really great and intense episode, even in a messed up demeanor, Joel can still catch a body. If you wanted f***ed up and violent Joel, you got it this episode
I am glad everything has been fast pace. They have cut out the middle man (and infected in a lot of cases) but kept the intensity and emotions
Troy Baker (OG Joel) getting stabbed in the neck with a butcher knife was brutal and I am glad they kept in the Ellie stabbing David to mince meat pieces scene

One episode left My prediction/theory; don't read if you haven't played the first game {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} I expect a change to the ending
I want to say there was a picture in the promo of Joel carrying out Ellie that I saw but it has been months since I seen that
Assuming they make a change, I can see Ellie being the one to kill Marlene. Ellie has not shown as much survivors guilt as she has in the game so I can see her not wanting to die for sake of humanity.

I just don't know, if they made changes to Bill and Frank's story, I'm hoping they do the same a bit to season 2 because that's just... very bleak and I don't know how people will take it if it follows the game exact, after how season 1 has gone.

If they keep it the same, I am fine with that but the big thing of this season has been hope and love. For it to go bleak and dark in S2 would be a major turn
You can make a case that you told all Joel story in Part 1 so I understood that decision for Part II. But it feels like you still got so much left of Joel/Ellie for another season
I assume it stays the same but I can see a change of adding more to the story and we not picking up in current time like Part II

This world is just such a desperate and brutal place. And you see the sort of depravity that much desperation and brutality can elicit. Especially when People are being led by someone with a wicked heart and mind. And it’s important that we meet someone that is truly malevolent. Because as fierce as Ellie is. For as violent as Joel can be. They aren’t David.
And I have to take another moment to sing the praises of Bella Ramsey. Those moments after she kills David, when she is on the verge of breaking, are just remarkable. Give her all the awards.

Troy facial expressions was top notch to show how meek he was to David and Scott playing David somehow made him just as sick as he was in the game The acting in general has been top notch and you will see a good amount of awards handed out. The only so-so job goes to Kathleen and even then it was more so direction of character But yeah as you said as crazy as everyone has been, no one is David. He was truly f***ed up

First was the same part in the game where he touches her hand, which I legit recoiled in disgust at my first time playing the game. And the second was when he had her on the ground and said, "The fighting is the part I like the most." And "There's no fear in love."
Even worse when you take into consideration that he was a teacher before the world ended.

Like, it was subtle enough to show you what he really wanted and the "The fighting is the part I like the most" really adds heavy weight to the type of disgusting man he is
Makes the scene with him slapping the little girl and telling her he is her father and she will respect f***ing creepy. Small details like them eating scraps while he has the biggest plate with big portions also showed you how much power he has over them

Like they have met some messed up people in their travel and journeys but you can argue the end of the world or circumstances changed people. Kathleen was willing to kill kids. But David, he was a menace long before the shit hit. In any other story he’s an overarching villain for an entire season. If he had got his hands on Ellie, no one would said otherwise about her being in the champ because they didn’t disobey David

My take on episode 8. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}I knew it was going to come to this. The question was how, especially how the last few episodes (barring "Left Behind") played out.
I knew it wasn't going to end up with Ellie running into the resort area, the small town area with the abandoned arcade and convenience stores, and the like. The same could be said about Joel going through the neighborhood with the fellow cult members gunning for him.
The thing that impressed me was Scott Shepherd's performance of David. At first, I thought "can he be as chilling and disgusting as his video game counterpart?" The answer was yes. He gave off that air of being faux affably evil, because at first he didn't seem intimidating, until he slapped that one girl. Then came his interactions with Ellie. I thought Nolan North did a great job at making him so vile in the game that Scott Shepherd did a great job in the show version.
As for Troy Baker's performance, this version of James seemed a tad different from his game counterpart. The game version didn't seem as intimidated as the show version but he still wanted to kill Ellie. This version of James felt a little more intimidated that he didn't really want to torture and kill her like David did.
I have to say that this is one of my favorite episodes so far. Now to see how the first season will close out next week.

I think I've mentioned in this thread before that I've only played the game once and it was several years ago. I've forgotten lots of the game, but one of the main parts that always stuck with me was the scenes with Ellie and David, and especially trying to escape from him and the burning restaurant. I thought they portrayed it all very well in the show.
The other part that stuck with me the most was the ending and (presumably) what will happen in the last episode so I'm looking forward to and dreading next week in equal measures.
