This will apparently be competing with the MCU’s Blade.

The Snyder Cult is twisting themselves into pretzels explaining why they don't want black Superman.
My favorite argument is "it's Henry Cavill's birthday"

Imagine how vague and confusing JJ Abrams is going to be with “Martha”

The Snyder Cult is twisting themselves into pretzels explaining why they don't want black Superman. My favorite argument is "it's Henry Cavill's birthday" My favourite one was somebody busting out charts that showed that only 5% of the people in Kansas are black, and thus it would be unrealistic to have a black Superman raised in Kansas. Motherf***er's an alien, for crying out loud!

One of them’s even a clone of Lex Luthor!

I don't think they mentioned where in America Calvin's ship landed.

To be fair, some of them are openly honest about it, and immediately show how clueless they are by saying there should be a white Black Panther. Because, you know, the skin colour of an African king whose stories often touch upon racial issues is as trivial as the skin colour of a literal nonhuman alien who just happened to land in rural America.

Honestly, my only problem with this so far is that they aren’t just doing a Calvin Ellis movie when the source material is right there.
And, this needs to be said again, he’s the only Superman that can lead us to a Captain Carrot movie. Like…come on!

Imagine how vague and confusing JJ Abrams is going to be with “Martha” The plot will concern Superman trying to find Martha. After two hours of chasing various macguffins, it will be revealed that "Martha" is actually a shiny crystal which flashes repeatedly for some reason. But when Superman reaches it, it disappears because it is only a hologram, but a clue is left written in a cave wall in a mysterious language which says he must go to the Planet of Secrets to find Martha, an arc which will not be resolved until the first act of the third movie in the trilogy when Superman discovers that the whole quest for Martha was just a diversion planned by Lex Luthor who is.....

As much as I don't want to see him typecast into "that one Black blockbuster director," mostly so other Black directors get recognition, I'd love to see Ryan Coogler's directorial take on Superman. I'd love to see them take a chance on someone like Sheldon Candis who directed one (very good) movie and hasn't done a great amount since. But that movie was also an all star cast so he has an idea of how to play with bigger names. Look, Warner almost gave a blockbuster budget to Terence Nance, they can give Candis a shot. What movie was that? This Canis guy’s made a bunch of stuff.

Not sure, though for the proposed movie it seems they're just making Clark Kent black, rather than using Calvin Ellis. Lazy writing then. I know what they're getting at, but they got Ellis right there to stop the "they changed it now it sucks!" types...i.e. comic nerds (and other kind of people who shouldn't matter anyway). Plus they are establishing a multiverse in the DCEU Mk. 2. P.S. only now do I get it....CALvin ELlis.

Val-Zod also could've made for a real interesting take on Superman, especially knowing the legacy of his megalomaniac father. And he already had a built in friendship with Kara Zor-El in the comics, which would've been a good way to get Sasha Calle's Supergirl (granted, she's Power Girl in those comics as Val-Zod's based on Earth-2) in there.
Calvin Ellis would've been an interesting choice, but then he's also Kal-El (or rather, Kalel). So if he's Clark or Calvin really doesn't matter a whole lot as it's just his human alias. And I dunno if WB would want to do a President Superman movie.

I dunno... To my uneducated barely informed eyes. This has the stink of 'Ghostbusters 2016 school of criticism deflection' written all over it.
You know what I mean. The "Oh you don't like this? Well you must be anti-X then."
I hope that's not the case, but I'm not gonna hold my breath either.
That's all I'm gonna say because I do not need another banning after the last time I got involved in this kinda argument.
