My mum got her appointment for next Wednesday in the morning so that’s a good sign with my Dad pre-booked as well.
Ireland is doing really well with vaccine distribution. It’s not perfect but man, it’s refreshing after the farce at Christmas with lockdowns.

Got my second Pfizer shot yesterday. My arm was sore and I maybe had a slight fever last night, but it's not as bad now. If anything my arm's getting better quicker than it was with the first shot.

I got my second Pfizer shot Friday. I really started feeling soreness hours later when I went to bed. Then Saturday I felt really lousy, body aches and headaches. But really, I've felt way way sicker other times than I did on Saturday. By the time I went to sleep on Saturday at 11pm, I started feeling better already. Now its Sunday and I feel fine again.

The CVS nurse/pharma tech distracted me from my first shot by throwing up a "Leonardo DiCaprio vs Johnny Depp" question. Smart woman. Didn't even realize she did it.

Had my first shot on Friday.
The injection was so quick and felt more like a little fingernail scratch than an injection. She even did it mid-sentence.
And then - nothing, at all. No sniffles, no headaches, no fatigue even. I've felt no different now then I did pre-injection. So, glad about that.

I’m sure many of us have encountered the loud-and-proud vaccine resisters. But there’s another subgroup of vax resisters I’m encountering among my family & colleagues, that I’m not hearing much about in the media. They aren’t anti-vaxxers or Covid minimizers. They’ve taken the pandemic very seriously, mostly following mask mandates to the letter without complaining, avoiding unnecessary trips, & some are still doing grocery wipedown routines. They think the chip tracking conspiracies are silly, & generally they believe that having Covid vaccines is a good thing. But, they have doubts about whether these vaccines were adequately tested, and they’ve seen so many horror stories of people having bad reactions or being hospitalized after the shots, that they’re now leery of getting it. In some cases, they’ve also seen obnoxious behavior at work from those who’ve been vaccinated (i.e., “The boss got his shots, now thinks he’s bulletproof, & wants to resume the pre-pandemic normal”), which hasn’t exactly helped the vaccines gain any favorability in their eyes.
How do you convince someone like that, who’s not anti-vax crazy but feels they have some legitimate concerns, that it’s good to go ahead and get vaccinated?

I think it’s going to take the FDA finally approving them to get them to take the shot. Problem is the FDA’s guidelines won’t allow it yet.

Got my second one today. Guy doing it did it very slow and gentle, better than the first dose, but they were more in a rush that day so I won't hold it against them. Not really feeling much other than a little soreness, but waiting to see how I feel later or tomorrow.

How do you convince someone like that, who’s not anti-vax crazy but feels they have some legitimate concerns, that it’s good to go ahead and get vaccinated? That's a tough one, because like you said they're not full on anti-vax crazy, but they've still decided to have an opinion based on zero education, training, or experience. And there's the further wrinkle of them being able to point to the anti-vaxxers and say look, they're the real crazy ones. So my concerns are reasonable by comparison. Hopefully this helps, www.npr.org/2021/01/11/955691117/talking-with-people-in-your-life-hesitant-about-the-coronavirus-vaccine

Got my second shot today. Funny interaction while the nurse was doing the spiel.
Nurse: "...and make sure to keep yourself as hydrated as possible for the next 24 hours."
Random person: "So we shouldn't drink alcohol then, right?"
Nurse: "WHO THE HELL TOLD YOU THAT!?!?!?! Just make sure to stay hydrated."
After that, I bought a six pack on my way home.

woke up at 6 AM chilled SO bad. But my hoodie was nearby so I put it on and felt better. By 8, the chills were gone and I eventually fell back asleep. My fever is fluctuating a little, but now it's almost normal. Kinda sore in random places, but not awful.

How do you convince someone like that, who’s not anti-vax crazy but feels they have some legitimate concerns, that it’s good to go ahead and get vaccinated? I think it’s going to take the FDA finally approving them to get them toW take the shot. Problem is the FDA’s guidelines won’t allow it yet. While they aren't formally approved by the FDA, they did give the vaccines emergency authorization to normally cut through a lot of the bureaucratic red tape involved. An unprecedented crisis with this pandemic led to an unprecedented amount of global cooperation on developing vaccines that normally wouldn't have happened otherwise. There's also a lot of misinformation about the development timeline of the mRNA vaccines. While obviously COVID's only been known about since late 2019, the science behind the development of mRNA-based vaccines has been going on for decades. It's a huge medical breakthrough.
The FDA wouldn't have authorized the use of the vaccines if they were dangerous. The media is sensationalizing the tiny amount of bad reactions like the blood clots over the millions upon millions of doses administered with only some minor side effects or less. Unfortunately, there will always be people who can't take vaccines for medical reasons, which is why it's so imperative for everyone who can take the vaccine to get it so those people can benefit from herd immunity.

How do you convince someone like that, who’s not anti-vax crazy but feels they have some legitimate concerns, that it’s good to go ahead and get vaccinated? You don't convince them. My best friend and his wife who had COVID, albeit very mild, last fall are going through fertility treatments right now and even though they've been told by the doctor that all the evidence points to it being safe in their situation, they are scared to death of getting it, then getting pregnant, and then having complications or severe defects. I sort of get their point. They've been trying for almost two years to have a child, this is probably going to be their one shot and the thought that they could permanently disable said child would give me pause as well. It probably also doesn't help matters that he was taking one of those over the counter medicines that the name is escaping me right now that they took off the market a couple of years ago when they found it could cause cancer or something like that.

Getting my second dose of the Pfizer in just under 12 hours. Did a deep cleaning of my apartment beforehand so if by chance I'm all zonked out, I won't have anything I have to do for a while.
