Well that invalidates the whole damned thing IMO.

"Disney and Pixar's Incredibles came out on top, ranking as the most loved superhero franchise. The movies averaged 96 percent. However, the series benefits from only having two movies to its name. The same goes for Deadpool, which came in at number five with 85 percent. Superman, meanwhile, is having to contend with decades worth of entries and various iterations."
So what you're saying is this is an incredibly flawed way of measuring popularity?

You wouldn't have superhero movies as we know them without 78. Even if every other movie from there on was garbage, this would be a stupid take.

It happens for any film franchise. The Land Before Time is a critical masterpiece. But you add 13 or so sequels that are watered down, it's gonna hurt the franchise.

I hope they didn't get a grant for this study, all it really is was going on Rotten Tomatoes

Speaks volumes to the study's veracity that the runner up worst franchise is the noted critical and market flop BATMAN.

I hope they didn't get a grant for this study, all it really is was going on Rotten Tomatoes Yeah, it seems like they used average RT scores with no weighting to balance out the drastic differential in how many entries per series. Seriously, there’s 8 Superman movies (9 factoring in Supergirl) but 2 of them are absolutely f***ing brilliant that I’d put up against any comic book movie ever. Batman has 11 off the top of my head also with multiple classics in there. Mask of the Phantasm and Dark Knight are masterpieces, Batman and Batman Returns are great too in their own right. It’s completely unfair to compare 2 Deadpool or 2 Incredibles movies to series with 6+ entries

I think 3 should have been the minimum allowed

‘Most hated superhero franchise of all time’? I stopped reading after that - from that comment alone and the posts here, it seems like a flawed ‘study’.
For what it’s worth, I love and always have loved Superman III. It’s not in the same league as the first two, but it’s a hugely entertaining ton of fun.

]about the comparing 2 Deadpool/Incredibles movies with the others, how many comic book franchises have fell critically after the first 2 movies - the Reeve Superman movies, X-Men, Spider-Man, the list goes on. I think 3 should have been the minimum allowed Do we count Endgame as Avengers 4? If so, that destroys that theory (as does Captain America: Civil War when it comes to the third movie going downhill).

Do we count Superman 64 as a part of said franchise because then yes Superman would be one of the worst

i really like how they call it a "study", when really it's just a pick-and-choose listing of this: www.money.co.uk/broadband/franchise-flops...which is really inconsistent. the DCEU is ranked in the bottom five, while the MCU is omitted from the top five even though it's average rating is higher than Deadpool's. Guardians of the Galaxy only uses the two movies with "Guardians of the Galaxy" in the title, and likewise Captain America only uses the three MCU titled "Captain America", but no crossover movies or ones where they only made a cameo. Superman and Batman on the other hand also include anything and everything remotely related to them such as Justice League, Batman: The Killing Joke, Suicide Squad (where Batman only makes a cameo) and Catwoman (which features neither Batman nor Bruce Wayne) on top of all that, they don't even use every superhero franchise, as properties like Wonder Woman, TMNT and Fantastic Four aren't listed. and by the by, the average for the three theatrically released Fantastic Four movies is 24%

If so, that destroys that theory (as does Captain America: Civil War when it comes to the third movie going downhill). I wouldn't say it's a theory, it was more that 2 films isn't enough films in a series for this to be a fair (a minimum of three films seems fair to even the playing fields more), of course there is always going to be third (or 4th films) in franchises that are exception, but for every Civil War or End Game, there is a 2015 Fantastic Four (not that the others are considered classics), Spider-Man 3, Hellboy remake, X-Men Last Stand (or Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix), Blade Trinity all have quite the drop off in quality then there predecessors

Richard Pryor was hilarious there, and the evil (or more accurately, jerkass) Superman was pretty interesting, as was the junkyard fight.

I think you'd have to give it to Fantastic Four. The best one of them is the one that wasn't even released.
