The fact they wouldn't even hear counter offers makes it abundantly clear they never had any intention of selling it and only pretended to do so in the hope it'd make the story go away so people would stop wanting to distance themselves from WB.

I don't know ancient Greek, but I'm pretty sure Zaslav is the word for it.

Genuinely repulsive, but what else do you expect from a reality show monger. Couldn't imagine being a creative in this climate, knowing months (if not years) of your life could be flushed down the drain for a quick tax write off.

Nothing is going to happen to him. He's going to prosper because the world loves scumbags.

I think anything that's been written off for taxes should automatically become public domain.

Last Week Tonight used to upload their big segments to YouTube on Monday morning. Warner has said no more to that, they will now be uploaded on Thursdays.

So there's apparently been a Salem's Lot remake that's been sitting on a shelf for like two years at this point, to the point that even Stephen King's getting pissed it's not out. (Not embedded because of a swear)

Hollywood accounting is such a scam. Movies getting scrapped for tax write-offs, insane budgets that don't show on screen, movies magically never becoming profitable so they don't have to pay any extra money to cast and crew... It all needs to be thoroughly investigated.
And obviously, f*** Zaslav.

Shockingly, putting a corporate vampire who hates entertainment in charge of an entertainment conglomerate continues to not bear fruit.

Somehow, it could have been so much worse. Mind you, any cell phone has the same screen proportions as a home television by simply turning it to the side. What they're really saying is "we want this Emmy-award winning show to feel more like TikTok, because that's the current thing". Between the "content" era and the AI era, we may actually be in the nadir of entertainment.

And John Oliver took another shot at his bosses. The main story was about Boeing, and he mentioned that he's also in a company that just completed a merger and is slapping Max on everything. He also said "New business daddy is so mad at us all the time."
At least they haven't stopped Oliver from taking shots at them. But they know with how many viewers he brings in, and the awards the show wins, if they were to fire him he could go to any network/streaming service he wanted.

With the amount of pull Jon Stewart has at Paramount these days, that's a really easy place for Oliver to land if WBD was dumb enough to dump him. They even have the uncensored premium platform with Showtime. It's not quite HBO in terms of prestige, but it's still something.

So here in New Zealand WBD own a few tv stations and announced last week that they are shutting down the entire news division after losing over $100 million over the last 3 years. Around 300 people who work there (some who have been around since it launched 30 years ago) are going to be out of work come June.
