Man, this sucks to hear. It was so easy to make fun of the guy early on, he clearly didn't come from a wrestling background and there was the whole "GEM MINT 10!" background...but after awhile you began to realize that it was pretty damn tough to fake that kind of excitement and energy, the guy was genuinely enthusiastic about what he was calling and wanted you to feel it, too.
Gone way, way too soon.

RIP
59 is no age to go, he was a great commentator. He was so passionate and I have fond memories of his commentary when I watched TNA on the Wrestling Channel in the UK as a teenager.

My earliest memories of Don West were shilling beanie babies on Shop At Home in the late 90s.
I wasn't the biggest fan of his at the time, but I grew to appreciate him later on. His calls of Monty Brown's Pounce were iconic. And I was really amused by his heel run, too.
His boundless enthusiasm and energy made him one of a kind. One thing you could never say about him is that he phoned it in.
RIP Don. Enjoy the HO-TEL BAR in the hereafter.

RIP to one of the best.
He may have lacked the background in wrestling lots of other commentators have, but he made up for that by being clearly a *fan* of wrestling. That gave his hyped up and excited calls an edge of genuineness that I honestly feel many commentators didn’t have. It was like having your drinking buddy from the bar in the announce booth, and it heightened everything.

RIP Don West. Him going absolutely nuts on that selfish PRICK Mike Tenay is one of the funniest things ever in wrestling.

R.I.P. Don West. I’ll always have memories of me and my dad making fun of him on those infomercials back in the 90s.

Don got me to buy a brown bag deal in my early teens and resulted in me getting in trouble with my Mum because of how much the service charge would be to ship it from America.
I still have a good chunk of what I got in there but man, that was the power he had.

Recently, we lost Pelé, one of the greatest soccer/football (depending on where you're from) players of all time. Now we lost Don West, who used to oversell AJ Styles hitting the Pelé Kick during his matches. Such a sad time.
