Just finished it. I had avoided almost any info about the movie because I prefer to go into something knowing very little about it. Spoilers take me out of the experience. I didn't expect this. There were bits of it that disappointed me, but I think I still enjoyed it. It definitely had some heart wrenching moments. I can see Smith's personal experiences and brush with death all over this. I think if I had known Clerks first it would have hit different but as it stands I don't think I saw Clerks until about 10 years after it came out. My first Kevin Smith movie was Mallrats and then I saw them all in order with Clerks hitting sometime after Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back but before Clerks 2. I may go back and watch the first Clerks at some point.
{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} One thing I found interesting is how young Rosario Dawson looked compared to everybody. It fit considering everything. It was just interesting that everyone else in the movie just looked like a regular person who had aged as expected, but they couldn't hide Rosario's movie star looks.

Mallrats was the first I saw as well, my mother let me go to that in theatres. The 90’d were a Wild West time when it came to kids going to R rated movies in theatres haha. Watched Clerks and Chasing Amy after reading about them in Wizard magazine in around 1998. Clerks 2 will always be my favourite, for a lot of sentimental reasons. Watched it for the first time with a woman I loved, who is no longer with us, and was mentally in a space where everything about that movie really hit home. Working at a fast food restaurant, wanting to make more outta my life, never quite finding my way out. And this one hit home pretty hard too {Spoiler} I don’t talk about this much, but ironically had a very open conversation with my mum yesterday about things. Finding out Dante lost Becky and Grace really hurt. My (now ex) wife delivered our son stillborn and it was the worst experience of my life, not a day goes by I don’t think about Chael Robert especially seeing as I’ve never had any kids after. I felt Dante’s pain so much in this movie. He never got his happily ever after, neither did I. It’s a hard thing to get past
