I do wonder what the reaction would be like if it is a swerve but with Bryan.

I do wonder what the reaction would be like if it is a swerve but with Bryan. I think at this point, I doubt it would be a great idea to swerve anyone at this point. I’d imagine he’d get a great initial show pop, but if Punk doesn’t show up at Rampage, it could do a lot of damage.

They've already sold out United Center on the mere allusion of Punk being there, so not delivering on that implied promise would be even worse than not strapping up Hangman at All Out, imo.

Yeah, it has to be Punk: the crowd would go nuts for Danielson, too, but if Punk didn’t show you’d still get the rest of the show derailed by constant chants for him.
If it was anywhere else but Chicago, you could do that, but not in the guy’s hometown where the crowd is ready to explode for their local star.

Hell debut Punk and while he's cutting a promo, debut Danielson to interrupt him, and the roof will explode off any pieces it had left from the first one.

I’ve seen his elbow drop. He cannot fly. CM = Crooked Moonsault. Don’t give him any ideas.

Nah I really would save Bryan for Arthur Ashe. That's an 18K plus BIG Pop you're gonna get for that alone. If there's a chance they get Cole though? That would also serve as huge for Arthur Ashe...

Not too surprising. Dude has always been a work-aholic. Makes me happy to see he's putting 100% into this. Cannot wait

I don't want to get my hopes up too high, but gah, the thought of CM Punk combining his ROH psychology with his WWE moveset and execution is mouth watering.

I’d say this is a winner for AEW, a healthy CM Punk, who is motivated, in great shape and he doesn’t have to wrestle every night of the week. That’s fantastic right there.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Punk is like on Heels.
On a related note, given his winery's collaborations with AEW, friendships with Cody, the Bucks, and Punk, and appearances at All In as an associate member of both Bullet Club and The Elite, surprised Stephen Amell hasn't shown up at an AEW event yet.

Closest so far is being one of the talking heads for the Cody/Malakai match.

It’s going to be real weird & fascinating to see a Happy-Punk within the realm of wrestling. Hopefully it stays that way cayse the opposite is by all accounts no-bueno.

I have been shit-talking this f*** almost constantly since he went to UFC, and I saw this and my heart skipped a beat. I'm not sure if I am still a fan of the guy, but I am a fan of huge crowd reactions, and uh... this one might be a doozy. I will say this as someone who really doesn't care one way or another if he actually shows: if AEW doesn't deliver on this insinuated promise, there's going to be some serious uproar and blowback from the Chicago crowd if not the social media outlets as a whole, especially leading into their next PPV. Yeah, they can play it off like they've done plenty of times in the past, but they're playing with serious fire going into this so one would hope they be careful. This isn't really the same as the ring explosion going awry, or plugging a HOF-level signing that turned out to not be Brock Lesnar. They referenced Punk multiple times on Dynamite recently, and are about to be in Chicago. It would be a catastrophically stupid move to make those hints. Even Vince wouldn't be that spitefully idiotic.

I wonder what would happen if Punk suddenly pulled out due to non-essential back surgery.
That’s what delayed his UFC debut.
A lot of pissed of fans, I’d imagine.

I went to WWE RAW Country back in 2013, and I was so sour on Punk from his return that year onward. Hindsight, I know his heart wasn't in the run, but he was so stale to me.. but when his music hit, I lost my shit at that show. I've been hot and cold on him since then, but the second it came out he was having talks, I've been getting so hyped.

Does anyone know what type of shape Punk is in? I remember for his UFC fights he was much skinnier than he had been in WWE. Wonder if he’s gained the mass back for pro wrestling.
