It felt like they were back in the Thunderdome tonight.
Except there was no piped in noise.

In a way, it's very sad when you think about it. The world is still going through hell, and many places are seeing things like the WWE coming to their city. An event like that, where people have fond memories of seeing so many people become unglued and electric, gives people hope to reconnect with humanity via exciting spectacle. Spare no expense! Kids! We're going to Raw and watch some wrestling! 3 hours later... I mean, those live fans at least get John Cena dropping by for a dark match, so their night is not a total loss, I guess? Smart booking to have the guy who is Superman to little kids go on in the aftershow dark match when most of them have probably fallen asleep .

All I know is they need to cool it with the Charlotte overload shit. Part of that is the reason I stopped watching weekly WWE TV. Every time I read something about what happened on RAW or SmackDown on Twitter, Charlotte is normally front and center. She is very good in ring, but her character sucks ass.

You could really track the crowd tonight based on how Santa was feeling throughout the show.

The problem is that there are so many unlikable characters on the show. Charlotte is talented, but her promos are so obnoxious and you want her to shut the f--- up. The Miz is gaining more go-away heat every week from me and I am totally sick of the Johnny Drip-Drip/Moist BS. Then they screw up Karrion Kross on his debut and take away Scarlett and his awesome entrance. Otherwise, it was a fine show.

3 hours is a long time. Wish it would go back to 2 that's the right number for televised wrestling It's churlish to blame it all on the 3 hours, but it definitely is too long to watch a wrestling show each week. However, they're now stuck in this loop: - WWE receives millions of dollars for the third hour - Fan interest drops due to said third hour, resulting in lower ticket sales & viewers Ergo, the more they lose their audience from the third hour, the more necessary the money from that third hour becomes to make up for it. They've painted themselves into a corner.

So *claps hands together* who's watching next week? That seems awfully close to the "see you next week" posts we used to regularly get when anyone complained about Raw. With their viewership collapsing in the last 4 or 5 years it doesn't really work anymore.

The live crowd was into her tonight. She got a decent pop after pinning Nikki then had the crowd booing her again during the promo after the match. The crowd has been into anything she has done since the MITB match, along with Rhea and Nikki.

At this point I blame the fans. You chose to spend time and money to buy a ticket and physically go to the arena. WWE may put on shitty shows but they're not forcing you to come and watch.

They've painted themselves into a corner. Its not the 3 hours that the problem, because fans sit through PPVs and don't have the same issues. Its just the quality of Raw been that bad, they have fallen into having a massive roster for the longest time, but only use the same 25% of it most of the time, it looks like adding a special part timer for the bigger PPVs. So many of the matches repeat from one week to the next, this Raw issue was a lot of matches of who cares being they use guys who been booked so badly from the start they have zero interest about them. Like Mustafa Ali & Mansoor def. MACE & T-BAR These 4 hardly gotten used and 2 iof them been look like a joke since day one. You had heel Lashley dominate 2 guys, two talented guys who was his running mates. So again Lashley the hell bulldozing through more talent because he not already established as a final boss already.

So *claps hands together* who's watching next week? I'll half-watch at best the first hour and half or so while browsing FAN and Reddit on my phone before giving up and playing videogames instead, like I do most weeks

WWE can coast for the next 2 years. They don't need to sell PPVs anymore with the Peacock deal and they don't have to worry about ratings until late 2023 when they have to start negotiating the next TV deals.

But given our luck, she'd end up having to put Charlotte over and then we'd never hear the end of that.

I think what’s so striking with the arguments about how the show being three hours impacts things is, as mentioned before, how you can have so many hours of programming and get get so few people over or feature such a small slice of your roster.
I binged some ROH yesterday to get caught up on where they’re at. They have one weekly hour long show and a couple YouTube matches a week, which usually adds up to 4-5 matches a week.
Yet if you go and watch ROH’s most recent pay per view, you’ll see that every match on that card had some kind of build to it and the wrestlers involved at least got *some* spotlight on the road to the big card. Some people aren’t thrilled at ROH doing a lot of “faction warfare” booking of late, but that storyline has given a lot of the wrestlers something to do, a character/identity to get behind, and teammates/rivals to play off of. Not every angle involves the factions, but many also involve rankings for the various title divisions in the company, making sure that basically every match at least serves that purpose if nothing else.
So in a promotion that does around 5 matches a week for free TV, they managed to build an entire PPV card, they manage to give their wrestlers something to do character-wise, and they have six title divisions that all feel active. That doesn’t mean the booking is all perfect or that every storyline works just right, but my point is that they get a decent sized roster over with minimal TV time.
With THREE hours a week? No reason why there shouldn’t be a wide array of talent featured and given something to do, absolutely none. Sponsors might want top stars on screen as much as possible, but there’s no way they’re dictating content to the point where WWE needs to re-use the same eight people or whatever every week to the exclusion of other wrestlers to the point that the majority of the roster is completely interchangeable.

LU only had 1hr a week that is it ....and they managed to IMO write the best wrestling show of all time with just 1hr they created and elevated everyone they had on their roster...again with just 1hr a week to do it and were not a year round show.
WWE has no f***ing excuse whatsoever they have pretty much a endless void of money , they have countless hours of tv. there is no excuse to be putting on the absoloute bottom of the barrel tv they are putting out.

Yeah it's bad writing, not the amount of hours of the show. If 2000 WWF had 3 hour Raw's, they would have been kick ass most likely since the entire roster was over and they cared about the storylines. Today's WWE just doesn't do that. It's a poorly written SNL built for an audience of one (Vince).
