I haven't been sleeping enough this week, so I'd hoped to catch up a bit this weekend. I work nights, so it's not unheard of me to be a bit behind on sleep. However, Friday morning after work I crashed but less than 8 hours I couldn't sleep anymore...until a few hours later when I was falling asleep sitting up. Just now I spent most of the afternoon trying to sleep and managed to get maybe 1-2 horus out of 5 before giving up. Tonight will probably be more falling asleep while trying to do shit. I try to keep to my schedule during the weekend to cut down on messing my sleep more, but my body fights it and then the little bit of free time I have have ends up being lost because I can't stay conscious for a good chunk of it. After work is usually the same, I start nodding off, so I head to bed and then suddenly I'm wide awake.

More sad than angry.
Realized a bit ago it as 4 years ago my "brother" Big Country Tommy passed.
Angry cause I knew it was coming up but forgot it was today. Sad cause this was a great person that we all lost.

Decided to play some baldur's Gate 3, since it's been a while since I had time. 124gb patch download. I miss when we didn’t have to install games just to play them. Pretty soon, we'll only be able to have one game installed at a time if there's never going to be a way to compress file sizes that won't hurt the performance.

Only real hope we have is for NVMe technology to get super cheap so we can have 4+TB solid state drives without the console being like $1000.

This was on PC, but yeah I do miss the days of putting a game in a console and playing. I miss not having to worry that my 2 second power outage is going to make the PS4 have a fit. Now this is the worst patch size I've ever seen and they've done this twice. The final space for the actual game is about a tenth of that, but still having to have that much free space took some doing. Plus there was the time to download it.

Wanted to get a writing thing out by today but it's not going to be ready in time. I guess I'm more angry at myself and my time management than anything.

YouTube's "ad suitability" check sucks.
It really needs tweaking to let you know which bit of the video got flagged as inapproriate. Just a "ad suitability check 1:25 to 1:35 violent content" or whatever. As it is, it's pot luck ... so you edit, reupload, edit reupload and I believe too many ad suitability checks impacts your channels algorithm. It is a stupid system.
And very finicky--I once had an add-suitability check until I removed the word Kirpi from the video. It was a video about the Kirpi armoured car used by Turkey. But as soon as I removed that one word, it was fine. No idea why that got flagged. I assume the shitty algorithm was detecting it as me saying "Crappy"

That's why I prefer to play 1990s/2000s video games. There's a whole bunch I didn't play when I was a child/teen that I have yet to play. I'm still planning to play the 2D GTAs, Grim Fandango and No One Lives Forever saga.

Just learned Dave Grohl recently cheated on his wife and fathered a child outside his family.

Took my son to the ER on Friday as he was vomiting all day. He’s now fine but I caught Covid while there so that really sucks.

Management tried having a disciplinary meeting with me at work.
I turned that shit around and had them agreeing with what I was saying, thanking me, telling me how good of an employee I am. So.
Angry at first but better.
Ps you gotta speak up against management sometimes. At least if you know you’re in the right. 👍🏻

I was in a decent mood, I'd come back into work after 3 weeks off (In this time I attended AEW's UK shows and and a gig in Birmingham). Got the house to myself for a week, my stepfather is currently away until Friday.
However, I'd restrung my guitar on Monday after breaking a string. They were on there long enough it was worth fitting a whole new set. Last night one of them broke already.
Now, I'd had an issue I thought I'd resolved, where one particular string would break in a few weeks, if I was lucky. The break would occur at the point the strong makes contact with the bridge, leading me to suspect the saddle of the bridge had developed a sharp edge. it happens. I had some very small files somewhere and tried to remedy this. Thought I had. The latest breakage was a different string this time. It was late so I didn't do anything about it.
But the whole thing has left me annoyed.
I think I might just buy a new bridge for now, see what happens, that said I also got a feeling the pickup toggle switch is on its way out, too.
I'm just frustrated with it, this is my favourite of the guitars I own, and it's giving me grief now.

Getting to the pivotal, highly emotional part of the story I'm writing that I want to really hit just right with and of course I get interrupted by someone who won't stop nagging until I go do something for them, which completely ruins my focus and mood and everything else. F*** sake

Opened my last jar of home made cherry jam this morning. The son of a bitch had a broken seal and was spoiled.

Angry at first but better. Ps you gotta speak up against management sometimes. At least if you know you’re in the right. 👍🏻 Had a supervisor once yell at me and threaten a write up for leaving my produce department messed up. What happened is we got a huge shipment of flowers for Mother’s Day and the supervisor emailed all the stores to build a display and get the flowers out that day. I was the only one in the department as my floral clerk was in medical leave. My store manager refused to give me someone to help so I did it myself and the main department suffered. I worked 10 hours (the maximum permitted) and clocked out and let the manager know I did all I could. My supervisor happened to stop by after I left and was understandably pissed. My store manager tried throwing me under the bus. I got called into a meeting with the supervisor and store manager where the supervisor reamed me a new asshole, threatening a write up. Pissed off, I defended myself and explained that I worked my ass off, doing what I was directed to do with no help whatsoever. I told the supervisor that the store manager refused to help me when I clearly asked him for help, a fact he omitted when talking to my supervisor. By standing up for myself, I avoided an unfair write up and finally got the help I needed in my department.

This is partially my fault, but a couple of days ago I got so intimidated by a long-form project I was working on that I told my artist I wasn't going to continue past the cover he was commissioned to make...and then I had a better idea for the project so I flip-flopped and wrote back to him saying it was back on and apologising for being indecisive. He D.M'ed me back saying I'd been very rude and that he'd rather focus on the cover for now, I told him no less than three times I wanted to keep working with him and that this idea I'd had would be good for him and good for the project, but since his last DM he hasn't talked to me at all.
Yesterday, I asked for some work-in-progress, as he had promised to show me a sketch, but so far nothing.
So I'm angry not just at him for refusing to communicate (likely until the job's done) I'm angry at myself for clouding our working relationship because I got spooked by my own ambition.

Started a new job in China two weeks ago. It's okay but this week:
-Monday they made us stay for a teacher day get together after school for a meal and a bunch of speeches in I was at school for 13 hours straight (for the record my commute is an hours and twenty minutes and I wake up at 5:00 every morning). -We started 'extra' classes this week which were supposedly to be optional but made mandatory. One of the other English teachers wasn't here for his class day so two days in a row I worked 11 hours straight. -Next week is a long weekend and because of how Chinese holidays work we have to make up the time which means I'm working Saturday this week. For those keeping track I'm working six days this week and for three of those days in a row I stayed at the school for over eleven hours.
