I'm curious if we'll get Punk doing some commentary on elevation or dark, filling in or just doing a few matches here and there Khan visibly perked up during the media scrum when somebody asked Punk about that.

Hey everyone, do you want to see the least shocking news of the weekend so far? Considering they shopped out the ringers in this graphic, I must have gotten one of the last ones they had.

Finally got my chance to watch the whole segment front to back
The best to ever do it is back and looks better than ever
However this turns out there has never been a better time to be a wrestling fan

Not to make this thread into Brock vs Punk thing, but rumor is Brock's surprise return was to address the return of Punk. I think in terms of bombasity, sure it works but it misses the mark in terms of what CM Punk meant.
CM Punk's story is the story of a guy who loved professional wrestling and was so good at what he loved he got to work for #1 company in the world for it (or sports entertainment). Dude clawed his way to the top and found out what a nightmare it was. As a result, he fell out of love with professional wrestling. We lost Punk for seven years. Meanwhile WWE has gotten worst with it's bullshit. Him coming back Friday as he so eloquently put it is his return to professional wrestling. There's something in Punk that makes him so authentic. You can love the guy or you can hate the guy but he has always spoken his truth. That's why fans love him.
Brock is a genetic freak and a legend. He's Vince McMahon's wet dream, but Brock doesn't love professional wrestling. I'm sure he respects the business, but we all know he's there to get the biggest payday then go back to his farm. In many ways, I respect that. But that's always been the duality of professional wrestling I suppose: those who are marks for the business and those who are marks for the paycheck. Additionally, you can't really compare however long Brock's absence was to a seven year wait. Brock comes and goes like the wind, but fans didn't think we'd ever see Punk back until roughly two or three weeks ago.

WWE just don't have the kind of person in their back pocket, short of the absolute nuclear hail mary of somehow getting Steve Austin out of retirement.

One thing that's funny is that Punk doesn't look out of place in AEW. He looks like he belongs there more than he did in wwe. Punk just always seemed like an ROH guy sticking out like a sore thumb in wwe. Either way, I'm so happy hearing him say he's an AEW guy.

There's obviously people he likes there, but he's not gonna go all out. And it all comes down to when he was there full time to start his career he just hated the politics of it all

With the Brock and Punk comparisons, I see like Batman V. Superman and Captain America Civil War.
People were way more excited about Spiderman appearing than Wonder Woman because one of them you were not expecting for it to even be possible to appear.

The views for Punk's entrance surpassed 5M. His promo is approaching 4M.

That might have been the best shot segment in AEW history. The camera work was perfect and the commentators let it all breathe.

That might have been the best shot segment in AEW history. The camera work was perfect and the commentators let it all breathe. Yeah it was really well done. I’ve watched it a bunch and it still looks perfect every time. Even the way they did it was perfect. Everyone wondered how they were gonna do it, and when the show started and all you could hear was the chants, then the music, then him strolling out was perfect. Way better than some kind of run in or call out or anything like that. It was like, you heard the rumors, let’s get to it.

And if you’re wondering “What the heck is the Bone Soldier Bullet Club shirt?” Yeah, it outsold that.

I'm not surprised it's the highest-selling shirt! It's the first wrestling t-shirt I've bought since around 2001 (I also bought the Hangman + Dark Order one at the same time)

That might have been the best shot segment in AEW history. The camera work was perfect and the commentators let it all breathe. My favorite part is the shot of Punk looking up to Sting & Darby. Punk is in his zone, with a mic, he's feeling all the love, then we see Darby. He's barely holding it in. He see the moment he's apart off and he feels it as well but it shows, in a good way, he's still the young gun. Then there's Sting, the elder statesman. Stoic in his zone, up in the rafters, watching all this. And that's because he's been where both Punk and Darby has been, the energetic young man & the conquering hero having thousands cheer for you as you return. Past, Present, Future.

CM Punk could’ve been in there next to the man with three billiard balls in his mouth if the Guinness people were sending sound guys to wrestling shows.

And if you’re wondering “What the heck is the Bone Soldier Bullet Club shirt?” Yeah, it outsold that. Absolutely wild. Like... it's just amazing that the biggest wrestling company in the world didn't see any more value in this guy And they cut Bray who ALSO might be going to AEW... and he was one of the current best merch movers in all of wrestling... so more records could be seen in this category to come!
