I hope so. They've made strides in every other division but the men's main event scene, which is weird. Them being only 4 years old can't be an excuse anymore IMO. I mean what are they suppose to do though? Jericho, Mox, Omega, Hangman, Punk, and MJF have been the hottest acts when they won the title. Those were guys that couldn’t have been skipped over. I’m sure if Lashley came in instead of Punk or Mox, he would have been world champ. I'm just saying they shouldn't have started touted themselves as progressive and whatnot if their main event scene is just full of white guys. They're all talented and such but in those four years they could've built someone up to hit the main event scene. Closest they've came is Starks and Guevara who flirts with the ME scene and gets cooled off for some reason.

Scorpio STILL has a chance at being the first triple crown winner in AEW (probably not though) assuming a Babyface takes the title off of MJF I think Starks might be the guy

Yeah but they can’t just hotshot someone in the main event just because they are black or Mexican or whatever, look at how that ended up for Jinder. Swerve or Starks I think will be the first black AEW champ, but they gotta be built up a bit more and i think it can happen by the end of next year which will be around the 5 year mark. And yes they have been progressive. Has any other mainstream wrestling company ever had a transgender champion?

But if you’re talking about a PPV main event sure. Maybe have heel Mox vs Starks later this year for the world title? Or Hangman vs Swerve at Full Gear. (I think Max should drop the title soon)

Going keep try keep it as short as possible
There is always excuses about time when you as the booker have the ability to put that person in position and have them succeed. It is simple as simple can be, no talent of color has been presented and given the presentation out the door like a Cole, Danielson etc has and even MJF was on a whole diff level to Starks as he has been around the main event since the beginning before he was a household name
Starks is getting there, Swerve should be there, Lee is getting there. They have been afforded a shit ton of time and the pressure should still be put on their neck to continue to rise up
No one has said just pick anyone and place them like Jinder. That's an ass excuse and not even tackling what the thread has talked about for over a year and a half

But also still a big deal for Jewish representation Oh absolutely. I can't tell you how much it meant for little teenage me a few months after his bar mitzvah to see a big kickass dude named GOLDBERG be the hottest thing in WCW for a time. Especially when the other Jewish wrestlers at the time weren't as obvious or open about it (Macho Man Randy Savage) or the ones that were were complete jokes (Barry Horowitz).
I hope more kids from marginalized groups can have that moment soon with someone in AEW that I had with Goldberg in WCW. Representation matters so much.
Savage was Jewish?

Savage was Jewish? He was raised Catholic but had a Jewish mother, meaning that by the rules of Orthodox Judaism, he and Lanny would be considered irrevocably Jewish. Whether or not they considered themselves Jewish, I couldn't say, no idea. I know that there are plenty of people who consider themselves Jewish in a way that doesn't factor in whether or not they practice it. It's kind of complicated.

Its weird people think that they should just pluck someone and make them a main eventer. Not what this topic is saying at all. They had chances with many POC talents (Pentagon, Swerve, Starks, Guvera, and Hobbs) but they keep cooling them off. Its an AEW booking thing that seems to be a company wide issue as well. But the main event scene has been relatively the same for the last two years. Just full of really talented white performers (Mox, Omega, Punk, Hangman, and MJF) I haven't seen them give the same amount of care and booking that they get.

You're telling me out of all the POC talent they've had they couldn't do that for any one of them so they can be built to MJF level? And mind you theyre were doing a great job at diversity at the women's scene till Thunder Rosa went down. And the tag division is super diverse as are the other divisions. The men's main event scene is still an issue regarding that and its the division that gets the most looks.

I know he was coming in needing to get his conditioning back up to par after a long bout with illness, but he had the credibility to be mixing it up with main eventers, if not in long matches, at least in interactions, from jump.

I feel like Keith Lee could have been a main eventer..but I dunno, between his conditioning still not being the best and his age, I can’t see him as being anything more than a challenger of the month or something for the title. Not a bad role, just not a main eventer.
Now Hobbs and Starks have way more upside to me since they’re both younger and have higher ceilings, and I think we’ll see Ricky vs Hobbs have one hell of a rivalry over their careers.

All I wanna say is that Swerve should be getting the push MJF is getting right now.
Swerve knows how to heel it up without being a try-hard.

Upside is one thing (and of course you continue building those guys up), but they needed a guy they could bring in and say "THIS GUY IS A BIG DEAL" from the very first time he appeared on AEW TV. A guy who'd be mixing it up with the likes of Mox and Kenny and Hangman and MJF.

While I get those reasons it still seems crazy Keith Lee has never been at least an occasional main eventer. On paper he's basically everything a company could possibly want from someone in that role.

Had the program with MJF and now going over Jericho on multiple occasions.

To be fair, the guy who was most gung-ho about touting the company as progressive was Cody. And that stopped pretty early on.
And in spite of their weaknesses in booking the men's main event scene to be anything but white and white-passing dudes, it was outright courageous to have a trans woman of color as their second ever women's champ. Especially in this day and age.
