I don't get the whole "Owen has no ties" to AEW thing. Bret Hart has appeared there. Mark Henry, Billy Gunn, and Goldust all worked programs with Owen. And finally, this picture should say everything that needs to be said. Honestly, Owen has more ties to current AEW than he does current WWE.

How about one for female wrestlers in honor of Daffney?! Do you need to try and hijack every thread? Wanting more emphasis on women's division is something I've always argued for.

This is f***ing great news, I'm happy Owen is finally able to be honored in a way that his wife/estate is comfortable being apart of.

Pillman Jr. would actually be a great candidate for the first Owen Trophy too.

It's no different from WWE inducting people into their HOF that have never set foot in a WWE ring. I guess to them, it's a half-assed way of ensuring that these folks don't fade away into obscurity. I mean, ECW even had legends come out during a show in Atlanta which…felt really out of place. It’d be like if a comedian in the 90s was doing a really edgy routine on TV and then went “Ladies and Gentlemen, Don Knotts!” You know, I'm willing to bet there was a TV executive who suggested Don Knotts doing an edgier routine then.

It does my heart good to hear this news, no pun intended. I'm glad that Owen and his legacy will be introduced to a new generation of fans on terms that Martha is comfortable with.

I’ve been getting back into wrestling thanks to the AEW weekly shows after the whole NXT rebranding, and the shows feel so refreshing. As a huge Owen Hart fan, it makes me feel so good to see him get honoured and I’m really glad Martha and the kids finally found a platform where they are comfortable enough to honor Owen Hart, the wrestling performer.

I honestly don't see why the whole "He never worked for AEW" thing matters.
He's a wrestling legend getting honored by a wrestling company.
AEW have action figures and video games and they will likely incorporate wrestling legends in those.

AEW have action figures and video games and they will likely incorporate wrestling legends in those. Plus his wrestling style was crucial in helping to form the modern style of pro wrestling. He was one of the first real all rounders in the history of wrestling and a lot of people have gone on record as saying they actively try to emulate the style he used. AEW really does owe a lot to Owen Hart.

Well, if you wanna get real technical about it? He never worked for WWE either.

Also, imagine if this is one of the first things they run when they’re able to run in Canada. They've definitely got the long-term planning because once the pandemic dies down and they can go to Canada, it's the perfect thing to get Canadian fans jazzed. Jericho/Omega III would be a guaranteed sell out of the MTS Centre and could realistically sell out IG Field if it’s the first show in Western Canada. Can’t help but feel they do plan on running that match in Winnipeg at some point

Im pleased to see Owen get some attention, but he has nothing to do with AEW. He obviously never worked there, never worked with anyone who is there, has absolutely no link to them in any way. It's cool, but it's the wrong company in as far as being able to really go all out. It's true AEW never hired Owen Hart, but they also never killed him, so...

I said it on Twitter, and I'll say it here.
If you're upset about the working relationship between Martha and OHF with AEW, go watch the Season 2 finale of Dark Side of the Ring.
If you're still upset about it after watching that, well then, I don't know what to tell you.

People were impressed when Wcw signed Hogan away, but AEW signed Owen Hart 22 years after he died! Tony Khan coming for Andre next.
