But will the Owen Cup be equal to Two Slammies? That's as good as Two Titles!

I said it on Twitter, and I'll say it here. If you're upset about the working relationship between Martha and OHF with AEW, go watch the Season 2 finale of Dark Side of the Ring. If you're still upset about it after watching that, well then, I don't know what to tell you. Honestly, the attitude from people that still say it should be WWE putting it on is atrocious. If you’re done wrong when it matters most, how long you work somewhere is irrelevant.

And then screwed Bret again after he went to bat for them over Owen.

Now that guy got ripped to shreds by a bunch of high profile people but still I don't understand how some people find it so hard to grasp that Owen's family, his wife and kids, want nothing to do with the WWE. They do not trust the WWE and do not want WWE to use Owen's name to get money because WWE was negligent the night of Owen's death. Martha flat out said last year she wanted to share Owen's legacy with fans because the fans meant the world to Owen but she didn't want to do it through Vince. Jericho got her in touch with Pro Wresting Tees and that's when things got rolling.

Bret told me in 2014 that Triple H had told him he was interested in doing a deal with Martha. I don't know how far any of it got but I remember thinking Triple H might stand a better chance, but obviously WWE was just a no-go for her, regardless of who her contact was.

As long as Vince owns the company, she wants nothing to do with WWE. The only way I could see her working with WWE, is if the McMahons sold.

Since Jericho was such a huge fan of Owen's, I wonder if he'll be involved (he doesnt need to win mind you).

I listened to what Jim Cornette said about this. He gave AEW a lot of praise for doing it. He thinks that it's possible that Bret Hart could make an appearance as a part of this tournament since he appeared in AEW in the past when he presented the AEW title to Chris Jericho. I don't believe anything has changed since then as far as him and the WWE goes. Cornette also ripped on the people saying that AEW is in anyway doing this to make money off Owen's name.

Well duh, AEW is totally going to make money off of this. That doesn't make it bad so long as Owen's family gets paid too. That's how these things work. I mentioned this in another thread, but even though Tony Khan seems like a nice guy and a good boss, he's still trying to make money first and foremost.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I checked every post but didn't see a mention of some time last month or two when AEW filed for the rights to the name "King of Hearts." So I would guess that and this go hand in hand and not Julia Hart.
It would be great to see Bret, of course but hopefully there can be other appearances either those with AEW (like Mark Henry) or others not currently employed with them.
It was pretty disappoint hearing, though I get his reasons (most likely thinking 'it will never happen'), with Jerry Lawler putting down Mark Henry's HOF speech portion about getting Owen into the hall. I would love for AEW to create a Hall of Fame and have Owen as their sole first year inductee much like Andre and WWF HOF. That would be something, for other reasons but especially since Owen is in a class all to himself in many regards.

I forgot it was just "filing" for the trademark, I thought they had gotten it.

Double J and Mark Henry should be in the tournament even if its a first round exit. Jericho shouldn't win but might not be a bad choice to get to the final and put over whichever younger star is going to be the inaugural winner.

Cornette was pretty close to Owen, even breaking down in the DSotR episode about him (something I've never seen him do), so I can see why he'd put his AEW hate to the side and be glad they're doing this.
