Well that sounds vaguely like the setup for a Dalek or Cyberman battle. Also, "BADWOLF" being the production name is actually kind of boss at this point.

A rumour dropped on reddit in the last hour that a member of Gallifrey Base with inside details says 'lines up' with what he's heard Still, salty shakers on hand {Spoiler}Jodie does indeed regenerate into David Tennant. Catherine Tate is back as Donna and the 60th anniversary is the first of a strongly connected trio of specials with Ten and Donna co-leading. The first story focuses on the Ten/Donna reunion and the repercussions of series four against a more simple backdrop of an alien invasion the Doctor combats with UNIT's help. Wilf is mentioned, but might not appear to the advanced age of Bernard Cribbons

Yes, I know, it’d get the ratings but as someone whose main Who era was Tennant, I’m very hopeful it’s all a red herring.

I would be hesitant to believe in myself, were it not for {Spoiler}Tate hinting something about 'going back in time' while being interviewed over a week ago on This Morning before winking at the camera, and the fact Tennant at his last convention appearance could not confirm or deny anything related to his involvement. Again, that was also a week or so ago. Only his wife has denied his involvement.
As any pro wrestler fan knows, having your wife 'answer the door' for you is a typical carny trick

{Spoiler}Again, I'm 100% for having Tennant back because he's still easily my favorite of the modern doctors, and I'm cool with having Donna back if only to give her a more satisfying sendoff, but MAN if those leaks are true that really does sound like the safest, least interesting, most audience-placating way of going about it.

It feels like "This is the surefire way to get ratings back" instead of something like Tennant's Doctor wanting to find out what the hell is going on, meeting with Donna and whoever else to try and figure out how he could be the same version of himself, which I would be more in for if you have to do it.

when like the fact the stuff being "new" wasn't the problem... it was the fact the new stuff was poorly thought out, badly handled, and the series itself was just poorly written

Has there ever been a show that similarly went back to an older showrunner/cast/etc. trying to capture the nostalgia of the show, and succeeded in getting the majority of those lapsed fans back in the fold?
Because the only examples I can think of failed to capture that excitement again, and typically wrapped up not too soon after. I mean, I don't expect Doctor Who to end, but it's also happened before, so who knows?

Honestly, a choice like Gatwa was always going to make more sense for RTD than one like bringing back Tennant. Davies has wanted to tread new ground sooner than old with his shows, so a young, fairly accomplished (but still up and coming) actor who's also culturally significant as the first POC to play the Doctor is exactly what I'd expect.
Guy seems pretty solid as a performer, and hopefully he can get better stories than Jodie consistently did.

I have to say I'm disappointed it's not a woman again. Given the troubled times of Chibnall's era, I don't like that some will see the reversion to a male actor lead as some kind of indication of a failed experiment. Or the 13th Doctor's gender being a gimmick.
Granted, not a point of view worthwhile engaging with.
That aside, I'm excited to see what Ncuti brings to the role. I know almost nothing about him, bit like Matt Smith. Never gave the Tennant as the 14th Doctor stuff a second of belief, would've been massively retrograde.

I've only seen him in Sex Education, but he's fantastic in that and he radiates the kind of charisma that would suit the Doc well.

Dude’s out there dressing like a character straight out of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, and I love it!

Since we don’t need spoiler tags, I’ll say this;
Thank F***! A Tennant return would have been a bad thing to do without it being VERY well executed.

Would have preferred an older Doctor personally, but I'll wait to see it.
Matt Smith never worked for me because of his age - though a larger part of my dislike of that era was my Amy Pond hate.

I think by casting a POC they are showing that they are not backing down from the anti woke crowd. We will have a female doctor again.
