That match did happen, it was a Daily's Place bit with one of the most aggravating Young Bucks finishes of all time. Which kinda feeds into DO being booked as jobbers no matter how over they got or how interesting their character dynamics were. Huh, weird how that completely slipped my mind. Though like you said, it does kinda prove the point that they were booked to be irrelevant.

I'd love to see what the actual Dark Order storytline that was clearly going to happen would have been. All the stuff with Hangman, Brodie abusing the group, with Uno and Colt. All of that got completely sidelined in favour of just kinda vibing around and doing the Hangman thing without any new hook, as if once Brodie died Tony lost interest in coming up with anything new and just sorta left everyone to rot.

So I'm not going to get into the discussion about Angels or Dark Order because I feel it's a touch more complicated than some make it out to be and the whole "why XX and not XY" points don't really add to anything, instead I'm going to quickly vent about something relating to the reporting about these;
If a talent does not have their contract renewed and it expires, it's not a release. It just isn't. AEW (and WWE with much more rarity) fulfilled their end of the deal, paying the worker for the years they worked and the talent worked the dates on that contract.
If a talent has their contract terminated before the end of the contract's term, that's a release. They didn't commit to their end of the deal for whatever reason there might be and let them go via whatever terms that were included in that contract.
Why does this keep having to come up every single time? It's tedious and fuels some of the bullshit online.

While technically true, when it’s the company that is making the decision not to re-sign the talent (and not the talent making the decision), in both scenarios the company is deciding to not use that worker moving forward despite the talent wanting to continue.

I dunno why they didn't get a victory over the Elite. That whole monthly storyline IMO shouldn't have happened and they shouldve just wrote off Page by having him getting attacked. They did end up winning over the Elite, though, in the Halloween tag match. The trouble with Dark Order was that they were totally directionless after Hangman won the belt. AEW could've had Hangman join them full-time, or they could've revisited the inter-group schism that had been teased previously...shit, at the very least they could've given us Uno and Stu vs the Young Bucks before Stu's contract was up. They just did nothing of note once the Hangman and Bryan feud was over with. I wish they would have done Page joining them full time. I loved the Page and Dark Order friendship.

So essentially he's gonna continue to be around a lot, because Avalon I believe got knocked down to a PPA deal and they still use him a ton.

Sean Ross Sapp just posted an interview with Angels and the PPA stuff isn’t true. He’s done with AEW entirely. He wants to go work indies and change the perception people have of him as one of the lower tier guys in Dark Order.

Yeah they didn't want to re-sign him but offered ppa which he turned down. It's a real shame what has happened to Dark Order

That's fair I suppose, he is a good worker, but he's still very young I always thought he could break out after awhile, but maybe he can raise his stock further elsewhere, and faster.

This Alvarez vs. SRS feud keeps deepening, can't wait for the F4W vs. Team SRS Blood and Guts Match

Alan is a solid talent that really needed some more seasoning and touring the indies will help that tremendously, especially being as young as he is. Kid signed a deal at the right time (peak Covid) and kept himself working.

Firstly, I think one of the biggest nails in the coffin of the Dark Order was that match before Hangman went off for his paternity leave. That was their big moment, helping Hangman win a shot at Kenny's title. I realise that plans had to change, but it kind of knocked the air out of the group's sails.
In general, I like oddball pandemic AEW much more than now, where there's a bunch of NXT/WWE retreads doing... What they did in NXT/WWE. I know they're bigger names, and I don't blame TK for signing them... But I don't find it as fun.
