No idea he had a problem. DUIs, backstage fights/meltdowns, sloppy/stiff ring work ect all the tale tell signs that someone has a problem were absent. Probably surprised people close to him as he's such a private person. He's doing the right thing going to the pros for help and at the right time so all being well his daughters only memories of him will be as a sober dude in comfortable recovery.

Moxley is a class act in my book. Hoping for the best.

The timing of this and his book release is something else. I wish him nothing but the best and hope he comes out all the better for it
Obviously it means little in the grand scheme but this does make the Eliminator Tournament in AEW very interesting considering it looked like Mox was gonna win the whole thing and potentially challenge the world title winner at Full Gear. So I'm curious how things change on that front and hope Mox comes back better than ever!

I’ve noticed for a while that he comes out to the ring looking very red and puffy, but I didn’t want to speculate on anyone’s body.
But I’m glad he’s getting the help he needs so he doesn’t end up another wrestling tragedy.

Second… This means there is a non-zero chance of Danielson v Cassidy at Full Gear. If Mox is out of the thing, do they give Cassidy a bye or a new opponent?

I assume an alternate opponent. Whether that's someone on the AEW Roster or a Surprise? I guess that's up to Tony. Even more up in the air would be who wins the thing now since Mox seemed to be the pick. Could be Cassidy or Danielson... could be the handpicked Alternate if there is one... so this'll be a big deal to be figured out in short order.

Mance Warner also did on the SAME show... horrific timing. As for who faces Cassidy? I assume an alternate opponent. Whether that's someone on the AEW Roster or a Surprise? I guess that's up to Tony. Logic would dictate “Use the rankings for the next man up”, so let’s see… Hangman is already #1 Contender, Cassidy is in the tourney already, Mox is out… ah HA… OH DAMN, IT’S F***IN’ MIRO.

OC v Danielson will be a good match, shame about the circumstances but somethings are more important than wrestling.
It's as simple as giving Kingston another chance against OC on Dynamite and him getting enraged by the sight of Punk coming out to do commentary that he gets distracted.

Miro WOULD be a really good in house choice since he's doing nothing right now And also he might want revenge on Cassidy still.

I think they'll do an alternate choice but I don't think they'll have Kingston lose twice in a row. If they still want Cassidy to lose? It'll be a surprise talent... or someone in house who can believably slide in like Miro.

The no compete clause of someone who has a lot of history with Danielson has finished, although if he's signed they probably will wait til the PPV to debut him.

I'm glad that he's getting the help he needs not only for himself, but for his wife and kid as well. It's good that he's doing this now and not having some sort of incident or tragedy take place that would have resulted in negative publicity and or embarrassment for him. I wish him nothing but the best in his sobriety. He's got a lot of people pulling for him, I'm sure.

Well, there actually is precedent for this situation thanks to last year's tournament. Fenix beat Penta in Round 1 of the tournament and suffered an injury in the process, leading to Penta advancing via forfeit. That would mean 10 gets the match with Orange.

But wouldn’t he have to forfeit due to being killed by Mox?

I remember reading a quote from his book online recently, where he stated how frustrated he was with his direction in WWE prior to leaving and how all his feelings would come out after a few drinks. I can see how a coping mechanism can lead to an addiction. I come from a family that has had their fair share of alcoholism, even lost a cousin to a road accident because of it.
I wish him all the best in the recovery process and it was very brave of him to make that choice himself.

Respect to him for addressing it before it went too far. And it shows once again how addiction can get anyone. Moxley is at the top of his profession, has a loving wife and just recently became a father. It can sink its claws into any of us. I hope he takes as long as he needs and comes out the other side better for it.
You have to wonder if they’ll phase out the Hangman drinking stuff now. His character doesn’t really need it anymore anyway and it would be awkward to see any of it still being played for laughs.

Major props to him. It's difficult to realise you have a problem with drugs and alcohol, hell not even substances... mental illness/addiction in general. Then it's even more difficult to actually take the steps in changing those self-destructive behaviours. We love you Mox!

We've all joked about Mox being a wild boy, but damn. Big props to him recognizing that he has a problem but is doing what he needs to do to stop it & to better himself. Something tells me being a Dad made Jon want to become the best Johnathan he can be. And that's a good thing.
