So If I had to guess {Spoiler}Does this mean Beyonder dropped Cap back on Earth at the end of Spider-Man: Secret Wars rather than leave him trapped in the space/time vortex?

That warm up act for the finale COOKED! {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Lots of wild and unexpected stuff crammed into 30 minutes, and this time the pacing didn't seem super rushed.
Captain America, 'Thunderbolt' Ross, Amelia, President Kelly, Morph turned into Quicksilver too. Maggot turned up at one point too.
I didn't expect a bit of 'Dark Beast' to come out of Hank, but it was a nice way of subverting expectations from Trish's interest in him. Morrison's run is where that relationship actually fell apart, and Hank was a dick to her there too, they've just decided to replace the end of an established relationship with the mere tease of it beginning.
Rogue's grief was handled well, and it does take her to every dark corner imaginable...just when you think Kurt and the X-Men can pull her out of the darkness, she allows it to swallow her whole by 'killing' Trask. Logan understands it the most, which I thought was a nice touch, but of course it activates Trask's dormant bio-sentinel programming and he beasts the X-Men in battle until Cable bails them out.
I think Cable's voice performance was stronger here than it was in 'Remember It', and there was a hint of his old 92 theme, he seems to harbour some resentment towards Jean for not being Madelyn.
Speaking of Jean, I'm glad there was more focus on her and Scott trying to confront what they're losing between one another and still being there for one another emotionally.
Emma survived, and is in her diamond form
And the big bad of the season reveals himself. BASTION. Sinister works for him, and boy has he got some trump cards up his sleeve. Magneto is alive, and Bastion's prisoner, the final scene with Bastion shaving Eric and a catchy showtune playing was super creepy. Doesn't seem that Mags eventual return to Villainy will be entirely up to him, I think they're going to adapt the 'Xorneto' thing by having Bastion stitch Erick up, as that was how they retconned his involvement in Morrison's era in the first place {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}My jaw hit the floor hit the floor when Rogue dropped Trask.
Also, we're seeing the radicalization of Scott Summers in real time. I'm so fascinated to see where he ends up

As someone that always wanted this dynamic since the original show {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}It's really just nice to have a Rogue/Nightcrawler embrace each other as siblings.

Finally got caught up on the series, so gonna give my thoughts on things as a whole: The original theme was a thing of beauty and I'm so glad they kept the old intro, just updated it and the theme a bit. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Kinda wish we'd gotten an explanation of Bishop's presence. He's just there for three episodes and then gone. Such a waste, considering him being on the team was one of the major talking points pre-series.
Episode 1 was basically an updated Night of the Sentinels, but done very well. Roberto as the modern-day Jubilee is fine, great to see them using another POC for the audience surrogate. The original team and costumes will never not get me excited.
Episode 2 had one of my favorite moments:
Jean: "He's coming!"
Wolverine: "Who?! Apocalypse?!"
Jean: "...THE BABY!!"
Wolverine: "...Crap."
The ending caught me off guard, I didn't think we were getting a clone story (I saw exactly one trailer pre-series). Episode 3 bringing back Sinister actually worked well, since I was sort of burnt out on him from the old series. But they really did a good job of portraying him as a threat and as someone, well, sinister!
Storm losing her powers didn't have a huge impact on me, but she's never been one of my favorite characters. But I admit depowered Storm bonding with Forge was nice to see in Episode 4. I hate the Mojoverse, though. Always have. He never fit the tone of the series for me. If they wanted a character that would put the X-Men in a deranged video game, Arcade would've been a better choice, imo. The Jubilee/Roberto romance could be cute, though.
Episode 5... first of all, I laughed way too hard at the notion of Sebastian Shaw, Emma Frost, Callisto, Banshee, Madelyne and Moira being the Genosha council. Not one of those characters is trustworthy lol The scene at the start with the child morlocks playing with their powers was adorable and Nightcrawler reuniting with Gambit and Rogue was very sweet. I really felt for Gambit in the scenes with Rogue, as he was trying to be the good guy and respect her boundaries, but it was clearly tearing him up inside. Cable apologizing to his mother... oh dear god. Everything after that moment is some of the most tragic stuff I've seen in a cartoon technically made for kids. Being on streaming allowed them to get away with much more and holy shit did they hold nothing back with the massacre. Beast welling up while watching the news coverage, and Trish being so subdued in her report, really hammered home the situation. And the end credits theme being so somber... god damn.
Episode 6 felt like a breather episode after how heavy the last one was. But still important, since Xavier is still alive, and Storm has her powers back. Deathbird is one of the most underrated characters in the show, and she's a sentimental favorite of mine, since I had a trading card of her when I was seven.
I watched Episode 7 about an hour ago, so it's still fresh in my thoughts. First of all, gotta shout out Beast for quoting Mister Rogers' "look for the helpers" line. I watched it with my sister and let out an "aww" when I heard it. The scene where Roberto told his mother he's a mutant was very much like the scene with Bobby in X2, and I even asked my sister who was going to betray him to the authorities. The first scene of Rogue in the episode was badass, her just storming the army base to find Gyrich, loved that. And her not flinching from Captain freakin' America was awesome, there's a reason she's my favorite character. Nightcrawler acknowledging her as his sister was sweet. The two moments that made my jaw drop were Rogue dropping Trask out the window, and Bastion murdering Gyrich. I shouldn't be shocked by anything after the mutant massacre, but they still got me.
And Magneto's not dead and probably about to turn evil again? OK X-Men 97, I'll go with you on this for now. Overall, I've enjoyed this so far. And with the finale starting next week, shit's about to pick up.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Bobby LeBeau appearance!!! I'm glad the show remembered Gambit had a brother in this universe. And even Jubilee's foster parents get a shoutout. I was hoping we'd get some mention of Beast's girlfriend from the 90's cartoon, Carly, for the hat trick, but alas, no such luck.

After what happened, I think Morph may leave the team AGAIN. And Logan will go after him, and he'll turn into a thousand different characters just to tell him to leave him alone

Operation Zero Tolerance is the definitive X-Men run FOR ME as it’s when I couldn’t put down the books, and spent the little school change I had at the comic shop weekly. So to see it be represented in any form is just glorious for me, especially doing a proper Bastion

Can anyone explain why Morph is Shang Tsung with their shapeshifting?? They shouldn’t be able to replicate abilities or create weapons

{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} I'm thinking along with Gambit: Callisto, Shaw, and Dazzler are going to be resurrected to serve as Apocalypse's Four Horsemen

Can anyone explain why Morph is Shang Tsung with their shapeshifting?? They shouldn’t be able to replicate abilities or create weapons As long as its stuff they're holding, they can replicate weapons, just they are made of the same stuff as the rest of them, it's just mass. We don't know how tough their natural state is, if it compares to muscle or can be hardened so I can head canon that. I don't think we've seen them replicate powers, physical abilities like Psylocke having a more ninja style which could be explained by shifting altering muscle structure making that style easier when shifted into that form.

Well in the past ep, they somehow replicated pietro’s super speed, which shouldn’t be possible technically. Same with them SUMMONING the Soulsword, even 616 Exiles isn’t THIS powerful. This Morph seems like a combo of them, Mimic (can copy a fragment of power from a mutant within their proximity) and Synch (who’s now evolved to the point of stockpiling others powers for later use)

Quicksilver's speed does come from musculature not something like the speed force so to a point its replicable with practice by a shape changer. They haven't gone into how exactly their powers work, and metamorphs are always super inconsistent, size changes, how much of other powers they can replicate. So I'm just gonna let them do their thing.
