On the one hand, Chavo does mostly do stunt work for TV shows, the reason he’s not in AEW is because he’s working on Season Two of Young Rock, so he’s not doing nothing. Nor would he be fired for it or anything. On the other, dude, come on now. You know what would have happened if Seth fought back in any way other than he did, this isn’t 90s WCW anymore where the camera would have been with the fan on the ground and Randy Savage stomping on his head. WWE would have been sued to high heaven and it’d somehow still happen because the US Justice System is weird and a lawyer would find a loophole or something. Oh, and Seth would also be in jail somehow. Hey remember that time CM Punk was in the crowd and smacked the shit out of a fan that wouldn't stop grabbing him? Didn't he hit the wrong guy? I'm like 99% sure he hit the wrong guy.

You know, if you're looking to do some time in the pokey, you don't gotta drop cash on a WWE ticket first.
Dummy played himself cause that's gonna cost the big bucks.

No place whatsoever for this in any sport or entertainment event. I really hope they throw every book at this clown and it sends a message to anyone considering doing anything like this. Folks, it’s entertainment and the wrestlers shouldn’t be subjected to being in physical danger while doing their jobs.

Same situation as Sabu when a fan yanked his turban off and he flew into the crowd to get it back and decked a fan in the face Multiple people told him backstage he punched the wrong dude lol

I know that it's satisfying to think of someone getting some righteous payback, but more often than not, you're going to end up with goofy shit like the "Malice at the Palace" incident, with everyone turning into a complete idiot and making extremely expensive mistakes.

How was the guy even allowed to jump the barrier without being stopped? I’m guessing he was sat in the side area by the stage so surely someone should have seen him and blocked him before he took Seth down. The takedown looked rough, luckily Seth was away enough to bump his back, any closer to the barriers and he could have been knocked flat out

No one should be attacking anyone or jumping out of the stands to attack anyone, I fully stand with the performers to be left alone and in peace. Get that out of the way. What I was saying is that "Getting free shots in while other people are holding someone down" doesn't make you look like the tough guy. That's a heel beatdown move, not a "I will fight you one on one" heroic hero move. That would make seth look worse if he's attacking a guy that's being held down and can't fight back is what I meant by that. My other point was that seth has been presented as one of the top guys and beaten many people. if some random fan can just jump out of the stands and do a move to take him out, and it takes twenty other guys to get rid of the fan, why isn't the fan world champion if he's that invincible. It's like in rookie of the year, where the kid throws the ball back to home and everyone in the crowd is in awe and they sign him to the team. If the people in the stands can do that, why aren't they playing instead? Everyone's initial reaction to seeing this happen was that it was a wrestler spearing him, so it just exposes the show if someone can jump out of the stands and do it, what do they need wrestling school for then. Like circus of the stars. If anyone off the street can just jump in and do it, what's so special about it? People should not be jumping out the stands to attack anyone, I have my doubts with nyc doing anything to this guy, but my point was, in kayfabe, within the context of the show, this random fan is now better than everyone seth has beat in matches. Seth beats people in matches, random fan takes out seth, random fan must be able to beat the people seth beat in matches and it makes the whole show look worse as a result in storyline. It's like if vader is killing people on the show for years, and one day some random fan jumps out the stands and takes down vader in one move and it takes twenty guys from the back to get rid of the fan. The fan must be able to easily beat all of the people vader beat if this guy can do that to the top guy that's been beating everyone, and I would expect a vader vs fan match or something after that, or else the whole show just got exposed as "here's what happens when someone who isn't playing along and does it for real gets involved". Like how self defense classes work great when the other guy is playing along and selling the moves for you, but don't do anything when you're fighting for real. Fans should not be involving themselves in the action, etc/whatever disclaimer you want, it shouldn't have happened at all, my point/concern that I was making is that 1) seth looks ridiculous yelling "come on!" while the guy has twenty people holding him down, and getting "free shots" on someone who can't fight back doesn't make you tougher 2) it breaks kayfabe and makes everyone that seth has beaten look weaker within the context of the show. That this fan can now beat all of them too. Would you like to touch this grass with me kind sir?

This is three times this has happened to Seth now, isn't it? That one time mid-promo, then the guy who got all the way in the ring for the Shield vs. Wyatt match. Weird that it's so often him.

The fact that this happened at the Barclays Centre given what happened there with Bret really makes me question the security there. WWE should be doing the same.
Glad Seth is alright, that is the main thing.

Looking back at other incidents where fans attacked or tried attacking wrestlers, I completely forgot that one of the times it happened to Mox he almost got stabbed. Absolutely terrifying. Security has to be better at not only WWE events but events in general. What if something worse happened to Seth tonight?

It does seem like a Shield thing. I remember some dipshit threw a box or small briefcase or something and hit Roman, but that was ages ago.

This guy just wanted to walk with him, I was kinda amused by that one. ftw.usatoday.com/2015/09/wwe-fan-jumps-railing-to-walk-down-ramp-with-seth-rollinsbut yeah maybe Seth should start watching out for people in red pants.

I totally get the urge to think this guy should've gotten his ass kicked. I do. But here's my thought when this happens. Do whatever it takes to subdue the guy and protect the performer. But once you do, there's no need for anything else. 99.99% of folks know this is incredibly stupid. It's always very possible that someone jumping the rail either has a mental illness or is mentally disabled. We don't need to kick the shit out of them if it can be avoided. And it's not like doing that will disincentivize this in the future. Anyone who's rational will know this is a bad idea. Beating someone up won't affect those who already want to do this. Just focus on protecting the performer and getting the attacker to the proper authorities. Seth is entitled to not be physically attacked, no matter who it's by. I'm shocked by some of the defenses I've seen for this guy, who made the decision to physically attack someone else from behind. That's the fact. If Seth's instinct was to physically fight back against an attacker I don't think anybody on earth would hold it against him.

According to espn, here's the update. "Attempted violation of arts and cultural affairs" makes it sound like he stole the paint from an art festival and ran on stage at a shakespeare play.

He goldberg speared him from the front. the fan ran directly at him from the front.

Honestly, full credit to Seth for showing restraint. I imagine the urge to throw a punch is extremely strong.
You tried this shit back in the WCW days especially if someone like Savage, Nash or Steiner was in the ring at the time, they did not hold back.
As far as I'm concerned, if you are stupid enough to do this kind of thing, anything that happens to you is perfectly fair.
Also shut up Chavo.

I feel like Seth only got bodied at first because he just instinctively sold a spear, then he was like "wait, this isn't Edge"
