Guaranteed. He's young, got a good look, can talk, can wrestle, Vince loves him, in multiple segments a night, beating up legends like Jeff Hardy, again Vince loves him enough to put him in a segment with him. He's got it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this kid's the future. He's definitely a future WWE Champion. They f***ed up his first run badly during when they just called him up way before he was ready
He has been someone they been high on for a long while and sending him back to NXT and giving him the dumb jock character worked wonders for him. He showed he can make a character work and he has good enough ring work and a good look
As long as he isn't part of the budget cutter out of nowhere he should have a bright future there

So what you're saying is... Nick Khan's gonna cut him in like two weeks?

I mean at this point, he could either be headed for stardom one minute and then released the next.

He looks like Lance Storm’s illegitimate son.

They teased that youngest WWE champion tonight, his birthday's in August so they could still pull the trigger on that within the year.

A midcard title in six months? I can see that happening. And I'd be on board with it.
He's got time. He just needs to be built up a bit more.

Dude’s really good. Of all the NXT people over the last couple years he’s the guy I pegged as the main roster breakout. Dang good wrestler in addition to his look, charisma, and youth.

I mean he's good but I feel like he hasn't developed any real connection to the audience so far. He usually gets tepid reactions at best. Now to be fair, it's early and a lot of folks haven't done any better. It's also not like that stopped them before (see Apollo Crews). But I think he still has to find the right character before moving further up the card. Dude who takes selfies won't get him there. Something closer to his NXT persona might do it.

Honestly this sums up the state of WWE right now.
Forget the fact that their main story is a f***ing egg. Forget about all that.
Out of ALL the guys WWE had and HAVE on their roster, Austin Theory is your guy? Austin Theory is the guy who's going to bring in new viewers, sell merch, get people invested in your show?
Give me a break. He isn't terrible by any stretch, there's just absolutely nothing special about him. Nothing about him screams "Wow this guy looks interesting! Let's leave the channel on to see what happens next!" - It's clear they see him as a young Randy Orton/John Cena type. A clean cut "young" guy. That doesn't work. Look at the 80s and 90s when wrestling was at its most popular. It was all over the top looking guys that made that happen... Savage and his crazy outfits, Hogan's skillet and mustache, Rocks over the top promos and eyebrow, Austins bald head and overall badassery... It wasn't "handsome young guy", was it?
They let the likes of Adam Cole, Keith Lee, Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, Aleister Black all leave the company but that's okay because Austin Theory is ready, brother.
Honestly, the future of this company doesn't look good. As soon as HHH was removed from power, it was (no pun intended) game over. He put his heart and soul into securing the future of this company and they got rid of every single one of his guys just to remove any stench of his work.
The next 10 years, we will have a main event scene of Austin Theory, Von Wagner, Bron Breakker and Gable Steveson. Nobody can seriously tell me that sounds exciting.

Yeah they have until August for him to beat Brock's record, so it's entirely possible if they like the guy. Hopefully the 'youngest champion' works out like Brock and not like 2004 Orton

They see him as a young Kurt Angle. He can do goofy but he can go in the ring if need be. Yeah, he's got the looks of a Cena/Orton but character-wise this is similar to an Angle who was doing silly one moment but then could do well in the ring.

This is a problem in itself. He has no identity of his own. People are already comparing him to Cena, Orton and now Angle. Every wrestlers goal should be to be compared to nobody. Because they're the first one to do it. It sounds harsh and I know the writing is bad but a lot of these performers just don't have the creativity to be their own character. How many of them wear superhero attires? You are supposed to be your OWN character. Why are you dressing up like Marvel?

Every single wrestler on the roster for so long have been compared to someone else. There isn't one character on this roster that isn't and we can even go further back to the OVW days when Cena, Orton, Lesnar and Batista were being compared to people. That's just how it is. Even The Rockers were compared to others.
This isn't new.

I'd like to think he's a top guy they'll build around as long as he doesn't turn out like Kenny Dykstra or 2009 unmotivated Drew McIntyre.

Hopefully the 'youngest champion' works out like Brock and not like 2004 Orton Brock being aware that Theory could take his youngest champion crown away and constantly showing up/threatening to show up to make sure it doesn't happen - culminating at SummerSlam, which is a few days before Theory's birthday - could actually be fun. Lesnar enters the Rumble solely to make sure Theory doesn't win. Brock shows up at Money in the Bank to stop Theory from being able to win the briefcase (not caring what happens to anyone else), Theory winning the case anyway and then being terrified to cash in because Brock will be there to stop it, etc.

Gargano is the king of that garbage, dressing up like captain America to fight a guy that legit tried to kill him. But I bet that’s not a problem when he does it. Or half the main event scene of a promotion comes out as ghostbusters. When guys are on the come up they get compared to other successful wrestlers. Jericho and Jeff Hardy got the Shawn Michaels label. MJF gets called The New Rock all the time as ludicrous as that is. It worked out for them. The dude is still evolving. He’ll get there and become his own dude or he won’t. I’ll admit, I wasn’t paying a ton of attention to him until Survivor Series and the Raw after. I like him. He’s still a bit bland but he has a good look and some unique little moves in his moveset. Lot of potential

Honestly, I don't hold it against Theory, either, just saying he isn't on their level. I do think he has that potential to be, though, so he doesn't look like a goober or anything. I have been sold on the guy due to his NXT work, since I felt like he was fun in The Way, and so far, he's made the transition alright. I just wonder if it'll last, given how they're kind of stalling on Priest after he started off on such a good foot.
