Was going to post this on the already existing Sammy split thread, but figured I’d address another point.
I can’t post Twitter links, but basically a guy has said that in the last 18 months “AEW fans” have driven off Jade Cargill, both Bucks, Cody and Brandi and now Jay Conti off of Twitter (some came back, obviously).
The narrative of the Tweet was basically “what’s up with AEW fans? Why don’t WWE guys abandon Twitter due to constant abuse?”
And..yeah. All wrestling fans can be assholes but there does seem to be a trend here.

Probably because WWE wrestlers are contractually obligated, or at least massively encouraged, to maintain social media presences. No one can ever claim the AEW fanbase is more toxic than the WWE one because they're 85% the same f***ing people.

Are WWE stans seriously trying to claim that their wrestlers don't get abuse to score points?

I think that Twitter wrestling fans, like a lot of fanbases on Twitter and Instagram in general, get a high off of the access it gives them to wrestlers, with them seeing any attention as positive attention and throwing abuse at them. AEW does seem to attract some of the worst of it, though certainly not exclusively.
Jade and Brandi also frankly have been subjected to incredibly racist behavior from some fans in the past. I know there is a perception, with some validity, that AEW has a lot of progressive elements to its fanbase, but unfortunately, misogynoir isn't exactly absent in those circles, either. Jade's pictures, especially like the My Hero Academia cosplay she did, also reached a ton of non-wrestling fans, which, anime and racism is its own can of worms.

The whole thing just seems to be a shitfight across the board. You have the ultra stans for each company harassing wrestlers from the other company, ultra stans for individual wrestlers harassing other wrestlers, same company or otherwise, that are being pushed instead of them, are seen to be a threat to be pushed instead of them or are doing anything that could be construed as being that person’s gimmick even if it is something as non-specific as be the same race and have the same hair colour, and because they’re the ones making all the noise, it makes it look like that they’re the majority when the reality is that 99% of wrestling fans are normal people that are like “…What the actual f*** are you doing?”.

Twitter is the cesspool of humanity where literally all of the darkest impulses of a person can come out full blast.
I dunno, it's been a bad, bad week where I feel like social media has just blowtorched human decency. I don't need or want Twitter or Instagram to promote my wrestling, and while some wrestlers don't mind toeing the line between characters and people on their social media, I'm not interested in it.

I mean for one, the Bucks weren't eighteen months ago, that was two years ago, and wasn't necessarily due to "AEW fans", but because the Bucks were getting threatening messages and pictures of their homes on Google maps sent to them. Seems like a specific kind of different story.
But also the question here isn't "Wow why are aall these AEW wrestlers getting run off of twitter?" it's "Why are primarily women of color getting run off of twitter?" and I think trying to turn that into some kind of statement about AEW fans is really ugly and opportunistic. Taking the misbehavior of bigots and harassers and trying to make it into some kind of tribalism issue is really gross. Hell, I remember when Cody was getting flack for the really really bad promo he cut in the run-up to Double or Nothing and his match with Anthony Ogogo where he singled out people in his mentions with 'Roman or Sasha Banks avatars' making fun of him. Which isn't to say that was necessarily a valid statement to make or that it was accurately therefore "OH NO WWE FANS ARE THE HARASSERS" because that's just as bad. But maybe twitter in general is just really, really f***ing ugly and enables some people to be their worst selves, and implying that that's somehow an AEW problem is some real vulture shit trying to use peoples' misfortunes and suffering to own people you want to crap on.

I actually got curious so I decided to go hunting down the tweet and I found it from a dude with "Professional mark provocateur" in his twitter bio, who follows the likes of AEW Botches, MeltzerSaidWhat, Bill Bhati (banned source on this board for being a bullshit artist, has 'SJW antagonist' in his bio), and WWEGareth (blatant twitter troll who posts bait shit to whip up AEW fans). So hey y'know, maybe pot calling the kettle black on talking about the awfulness and 'trends' of AEW fans from somebody so steeped in how vile wrestling twitter is that all they see are t-shirt colors.
There's a real problem with this. People being harassed is awful, and the people who did this are slime mold. But don't fall for people who are trying to make this problem into something it's not, because they're the ones hiding the real root of this problem so they can win slapfight points with their buddies instead.

Anyone who bullies someone off of Twitter especially for speculation and rumors is a loser.

This is a Twitter issue, not an AEW issue.
WWE “superstars” just have absolutely no freedom or control over their social media presence and likely can’t unilaterally delete their twitters. Go read comments on Charlotte Flair’s tweets within the last 2 months or so and see if you still think it’s a “trend” with “AEW fans.”

I feel like wrestling fans really fall hard for the para-social relationship. And social media makes that even worse. Add to the fact that wrestling fans tend to be really obsessive, and boarding on the line of creepy and hateful, and now a lot of them go over that line.

Not to take away from the fans themselves but it feels like there’s a situation weekly where the response from some people is wondering why Twitter decides to do feck all about it with the answer being “If we did that, Wall Street would be sad and who wants that?”

Anyone trying to make this an AEW fans only thing needs to see the sort of things some 'fans' of Sasha, Alexa, and several other WWE women throw around.
Wrestling as a whole attracts some of the worst people and Twitter not only gives them a voice, but unfortunately allows them to direct their hate directly at people. And with no moderation, too. By the time Twitter acts on abusive tweets (if it ever does) the damage has been done.
